BubbaVO Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 That is a pretty cool guitar. What years did they make that? How many of those were made? Finish options for that one?For a pic see p.122-123 in The Ultimate
Studio Custom Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Not many, Peter probably owns them all by now.
Hamerica Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I think Jack Frost had oneYes, and I think Peter has that one as well.Hamerica
cmatthes Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 It wasn't a model offered to the public.
BubbaVO Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 It wasn't a model offered to the public. So that top must've been truly hand carved, right? That's a gorgeous guitar. One of my favorite things about Da Book is seeing all those one off and rarities. Those guys in that shop were so talented.
Studio Custom Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 pics or it didn't happen She heard ya....
HamStd Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 The silver sparkle one in the book was the guitar from the "Rock in Rio" show and his main. Mark told me he gave his other white one (with the single coil in the neck position) to his tech as he had more use for the sustainiac. Maybe not as nice as Joe's pic, but here are three cuties that are pretty nice to wake up to.... The white one was also made for Mark, the center one was a custom model made for Steve Brown of Trxiter (the body is much thicker than a "typical" Hamer and more like a Les Paul) and the purple one is the custom one made for Jack Frost (thanks Mobster). Enjoy-Hamer Rocks!!! Peter
Disturber Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Some pretty cööl live shots of that model in this live show:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp45OJ6DqR0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOIs44u4I4I
HamStd Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The original Mark Younger-Smith model. Isn't that actually Mark Younger-Smith-Stevens.
Studio Custom Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The story as I remember it was....Mark has a SS he did his audition with. He didn't know any Idol songs so they did all cover including LA Woman (that's how it became part of the Idol set). When he left the audition he went to a pawn shop and traded the guitar for an answering machine in case Billy called to give him the gig. When Idol did, Mark tried to retrieve the guitar but it had sold.
velorush Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 One of the greatest things about coming here is how a topic is brought up (a guitar) and then you guys pop up with the actual guitars, details and surrounding anecdotes. HFC > History Channel!

HFC > History Channel! Except things here are fact-based, unlike most of what gets aired on The History Channel these days! You know, in retrospect, that HFC > History Channel isn't really that high of a bar these days. I suppose when I typed that I was thinking of the old History Channel, back when it first came on - before the advent of reality-TV-as-"history" shark had been jumped. Okay, suffice it to say, the HFC: a whole lot of annotated and illustrated, fact-based fun!
Studio Custom Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The History channel use to be the Hitler channel, and HFC begins with an "H", so there's potential there.
Tres Aardvarks Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 How about an HFC - History mashup?
