LucSulla Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Value priced under $15k. Includes headstock repair. https://reverb.com/item/1701795-vintage-1981-hamer-prototype-electric-guitar-from-rick-nielsen-s-collection
Andrew Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 It about the third or fourth prototype Prototype. Note the lack of forearm bevel and lack of a tummy-cut. Script logo on the scratchplate. It's interesting, no doubt, but $15,000.......
Studio Custom Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The OP failed to mention it was Rick Nielsen's guitar. I wouldn't pay it, but someone might pay 10k to have their hero's guitar.
Steve Haynie Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Someone can make an offer. There are some super Cheap Trick fans who would pay anything for one of Rick's guitars, but if you can get one of his guitars it would be better to get one of the guitars that has been seen in several published photos. Rick has been through a LOT of guitars over the years.
bigolsparky Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The appraisal states the guitar is worth $1250.00. I would say that is closer to reality. Rick Neilson played a different guitar every song the last time I saw him and probably went through 1% of his collection.
cmatthes Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Rick wasn't a prolific user of Prototypes. I've seen him more with Phantoms, actually.

scottcald Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 For that money, I'd want him to pose with it before shipping.
crunchee Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Gee, for that price, I could buy at least two Gibson "Brazilian" '59 LP Reissues!
mc2 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Pretty sure this is the same one that was sitting for sale at a TN dealer for a long time for around half this price. I emailed the seller and told him I would sell him an earlier, nicer, unbroken and more significant prototype Prototype...plus throw in one of Petersson's old basses for $15k. 😀😀
tbonesullivan Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I love how they include the appraisal from Gruhns, which puts value at $1250 in 1998. Now it's worth 15K? what the hell?
oldskoolrulz Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 So I'm pretty sure my '81 was never in Rick's hands or possession, so I'll discount it 50% and take $7500 and you get a rare black sustainblock with mine, how can you pass this deal up?
