Steve Haynie Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 If you are a Zappa fan there is an auction of stuff that belonged to Frank and Gail Zappa. There are musical instruments and recording gear included. A pair of eyeglasses is in the auction. It would be tempting to get new lenses and wear the frames.
django49 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I could, maybe, be interested in a pair of zircon encrusted tweezers.
Greg G Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 The Muffin Man is seated at the table in the laboratory of the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen.... Actually the story of the family squabbles over the estate is pretty sad. Dweezil inherited all of Franks's guitars when he died, but Gail made him give them back, then allowed him to keep a few of her choosing, minus the cases. The Zappa home recently sold, and the buyer is said to be Lady GaGa. I hope Lady Goo-Goo takes care of it.
Steve Haynie Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 What did Dweezil do that was so bad? A major Zappa fan pointed out that Dweezil may have begun his decline in the family hierarchy when he played on Pat Boone's heavy metal album because of different political views between Gail and Pat.
crunchee Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I want FZ's musical bicycle: Warning: It's a LONG clip.
Bennyboy-UK Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 From 1:40 this was the first bit of Frank Zappa playing lead I ever heard. I thought it was barmy but fantastic... it was a section on the old strat documentary from the early 90s. Love it!
cynic Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I never cared much for his artistic expression, but he could be incredibly entertaining.
mc2 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 One of the few guys on my short-list of life influences -- his early work but also his stance against censorship, work ethic and do-it-yourself perserverance in the industry. Uber respect for FZ. One of the greatest compliments I felt I ever got was Billboard Magazine using the phrase "Zappa-inspired," referring to a song of mine in an album review. There are a few items I would like. Interesting to get to see the inside of his house. Always sad to me to see someone's life being auctioned off....... ** An aside to this......of interest to many of you...is the guy who SIGNED Frank Zappa. A since lost, unheralded producer and record exec. Without him there may have been no Zappa, no Simon & Garfunkel, no electric Bob Dylan, no Velvet Underground....And oddly enough he also happened to be a black cat from jazz roots. Cool story. http://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/the-greatest-music-producer-youve-never-heard-of-is/ http://www.producertomwilson.com/
Jeff R Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I'd love to get that "Frank Les Paul" flight case for my project '55 Junior I picked up, that would be hilarious. Plus I need a case for it anyway lol
Steve Haynie Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 The Tom Wilson article was a wonderful read this morning. Thank, mc2.

Yeah....when I was a radio DJ I used t see his name on albums. Interesting to see some of the projects he worked on....and photos he was in alongside famous artists he produced. He was also is the photo from "We're Only In It For the Money," the Mother's parody of Sgt. Pepper. Wilson is the black dude at the left.....Jimi Hendrix is the one to the right (yes, really was Jimi, although several band members of the Mothers were actually plaster casts!)

T-51Fred Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I was looking at some of the power amps but they have a dynamo hum.
ptm1diver Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 And you couldn't say where they were cumin from. No zircon encrusted tweasers or SGs.
