Anyone using Port City Cabs?

Looking at getting a 1x12 to go with my Fuchs. I'm digging my Fuchs 2x12 ported cab and would like a 1x12 for jam nights and rehearsals. The Fuchs Mini's IMHO don't sound that great and finding the Ported Cab is used is next to impossible.

How about a nice Mesa 1x12 wedge? More awesomeness than you can handle.

I have a Port City Wave 2 x 12" for sale. PM me if you're interested.

I found a clone of the Fuchs/Dumble style 1 x 12 locally for $250. They are made by Vumble and are pretty pricey new. It has a CL80 speaker. Sounds very similar to the Mesa "3/4 back" which sports an MC90. They too are not easy to find a deal on.  (I like the sound of the newer Alnico Cream a wee bit better, but the less expensive speaker is very good).

I am actually building a pair of "clones of the clone" just for fun. Not too difficult once you actually get started. Will try to get pictures posted soon----Still waiting for the speakers to arrive.

Keep in mind these cabinets are oversized and nearly the size of a 2 x 12. In some things, in this case tone, size matter.

ETA......I think the Port City (Wave) is at least somewhat similar to the Forte 3D cabs that got rave reviews from "D-tone" folks, though they are no longer in business. A clone of the Forte is next on my "Gotta build one of them" list.

Oh WTH, a couple shots of work in progress.....The small one will by my take on the Fuchs-ish 2 x 8 that is (or was) offered with the Blackjack amp.

Damn django, you got the set up man. Every damn piece of equipment I have needs works, which gives me an excuse not to do it myself.

I found a Stagecraft Ported 2x12 that is pretty sweet. I seriously don't need another 2x12, but i'm on the search for a 1x12 or I would really LOVE to have a ported 2x10.

About the only thing you won't find in Django's shop is...

Ya, i'll just set my amp on the floor. ;)

Anyway deal is done, I found a few cabs over the last couple of days and was going to go on a road trip this weekend to pick up a cab. Last night I received and email over at TGP from a member that had a Hermida Ported 1x12 so we struck a deal and it is OTW today. I should have it by weeks end. Going to sell my Fuchs Lucky 7 Combo and just take the Blackjack 20 everywhere. Between that head a couple of pedals and a couple of cabs I like what i'm hearing and happy to have what I have.

I would like to try down the line a 2x10 cab so I'll be keeping my feelers out for a 2x10 ported cab.

I've got a ported Hermida 2x12 loaded with EVM 12Ls, and it sounds as huge as it weighs, which is quite a bit actually.

Another name to look for is Reeves.  Though it appears they now have their own ported design, many of their cabinets on the secondary market are Port City licensed / design.  Example

Those are made by Stagecraft, most company's don't make their own cabs and you can sometimes buy direct from the builders at half the cost. You pay double for the cab because it gets shipped to the manufacturer, then to a dealer and sometimes then to you and and...

I almost bought a 2x12 Stagecraft/Reason/Reeves cabinet but I already have a Hermida/Fuchs 2x12 and just wanted something smaller. Now I will move the Lucky7 Combo and just use this head with the cabs.

I will say this, it is getting increasing harder to justify buying anything else after spending so much time with the Marshall Class 5. The more I play it, the less and less I even step on the pedal that I have out in front. Les Paul JR into Fulltone FD3 into the Class 5 is pretty damn good. Man if Marshall would just made something a little bigger with that NMV sound I would be in heaven.

All good cabs, I ended up with a Hermida 1x12 Ported cab. Near mint and loaded with a RWB's. I pulled that speaker as soon as I could. My tone tubby is in it know but i'm going to switch to an ET65. I'm looking for some acoustic padding that I can lay glue in to the inside to kill some of the brightness of the reflextion coming out of the cab. Fuchs does this to there cabs and they sound great. This is a great grab and go cabinet.

Consider this stuff. Beats dealing with the cliche fiberglass. And no need to glue.

This is the place where I also got the "hi fi" 8" and 10" Celestions for "high powered" small speakers for some home-made cabinets. Cheap at $50 and $60. The Kevlar cone-equipped full (guitar) range speakers are rated at 100 watts each. Did me up good on my first live outing last weekend.

Interesting, I was just looking for something that I could cut, so I could roll it in or glue it in. I have a bunch of filter material but it has oil in it and I don't want to use it. Maybe carpet padding?
