soli'd Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Didn't that one just sell at Dave's recently? Catch & release?
cmatthes Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 That one DID just sell (I thought for slightly cheaper?) from Dave's a few weeks ago. Hmmm...
mirrorimij Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 They make a note of a finish touch up and new nut. Was that in the original listing?
Michael_B Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 I think I might have owned that one, at one time. If it's the same guitar, I thought quite highly of it. My sense, at the time, was that there was some twist to the neck.
pirateflynn Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 I heard back from Dave’s and was told the buyer returned it because he didn’t like the neck shape. My concern is the neck angle on these, inconsistent in my experience. I had the bridge milled on one of mine but had a couple more with same problem. I love these old Sunbursts but I’ll probably not own another. I’m not sure if you guys remember but I used to be on a serious hunt for a Natural B&C. That was my holy grail for a long time. Truly beautiful.
ARM OF HAMER Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 NICE! I had the 2 Black 79 Sunbursts and both where bound and crowned.............................first one I bought had the Kahler and a thinner neck but very playable and the second had a fatter neck, not huge mind you but say a fuller C shape. Both played and sounded great. At first I wanted a Natural Sunburst but they were really tough to find then I got these 2 Black ones. They are fine guitars but not for everyone due some issues with neck size and other things. I didn't sell either of mine because I didn't like them, I didn't have any issues with mine they played and sounded great but in the end I moved on to another guitar. I would think a offer of 2K would buy this one but pretty sure Dave isn't going to come down that far on the price, maybe a trade plus cash for another guitar would get it done .

The black B&C one is what I'd readily make a jump for if one ever pops up again. At a sensible price. I love Martin Barre's playing (profile pic noted).

Yeah the touched up blems and brass but were what caught my eye in the listing (besides the somewhat unique slant to the figuring in the top). Thought I was having deja vu. (daves-ja vu?)

Later they [Hamer] went to a three piece neck. They are really a take on a old Les Paul Jr. but at a fraction of the cost of one of those. The top is maple but it is just a thin veneer, I could see the figure on the top of mine where the finish has sunk down on both of the Black Hamer Sunbursts I owned. I really like this guitar Dave has but that nut, that would have to go.

Nope....................... he played a 1978 Black B&C'd Hamer Sunburst. Here is one of mine [1979] I owned and here is Martin playing his with TULL.
