Unless, that is, you are conducting a study on the slow and inept and their utter inability to recognize or react to increased customer volume. The line will be literally out the door, and the ONE GUY at the counter will perform what is a dead ringer impersonation of a sloth, moving so slowly you can almost hardly notice. He would easily evade a hungry tyrannosaurus rex, because as we all know, a T-Rex's visual acuity is based on movement. Jurassic Park? No? Nobody? Anyway, yeah... they don't take lunch on Saturday. USPS must hold classes for that - the slug behind the counter here guarantees a line any time, any day and we're a small town.

kizanski Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 Combination Bump and Post Office Rant Combo! Finally! The coffee I ordered from @edgar_allan_poe has arrived. I hate being right all of the time, but once again the United States Lost Office lives up to its reputation, having delivered my package after a week-long tour of the Garden State. As you can see "the Hamer of coffees" is from Colombia, but it travelled more distance in the past week making its meandering journey from Pittsburgh, PA to northern New Jersey than it did being imported to the United States. Rob had "an incident" when attempting to send this package, which I was actually happy to hear. You see, it's one thing when I get into a beef with someone who proves to be inept at their job, but when it happens to Rob it is always, 100% of the time their problem. The box itself tells the story of a frustrated customer, an incompetent Postal worker, and at least two detours along the way. This package clearly took the local vs. the express. Suffice it to say the box can not be reused. To paraphrase Bob Harris, "The good news is the coffee works." What a glorious smell. I could just smell it and be content but it tastes too good for that. Too bad he spelled "kizanski" wrong. Knucklehead.

Perhaps this would be a good coffee bean to add to my oatmeal stout base…. 🤔☕️🍺

kizanski Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 In other news, the bullseye Grovers set has sold.
edgar_allan_poe Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 For a coffee stout I would recommend a Java. Real Java is hard to come by, it's not a large area and if everything being sold as Java were really Java it would require every square inch of the Island to be covered in coffee plants. lol I've never brewed a coffee stout but I'm recommending a Java because it's the doppelganger of coffee. I have yet to blend it with anything and have it not taste fantastic. It is a neutral enough coffee to add body and a bit of flavor to something more exotic and not cover up the other coffee. There is a reason why the Mocca/Java blend is one of the oldest on the planet. I would guess that if you used it to brew a coffee stout, you would get a really good coffee flavor that doesn't overpower the malts of the stout. It's just a guess so take that for what it is worth.
kizanski Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 And here I thought java and coffee were the same thing.

Unscrupulous coffee roasters will just label it Java and in the extremely rare instance that someone calls them on it use that as an excuse. I actually had to call out a coffee distributor when I just started out and didn't have the sources I do now. They tried to send me something that obviously wasn't Java. It's complicated and not something I will get into here, but Indonesia processes their beans differently than anywhere else and if you know what you are looking for it's an easy thing to spot. I ordered a wet hulled Java and they tried to send me something else. Real Java isn't cheap, and while it could have just been an honest mistake, it was the last time I got coffee from them. Most of what I get now comes from Royal Coffee in NY and they would never try to dick around like that....especially for someone as small as me.

edgar_allan_poe Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Tennant's Coffee on Facebook or you can call or text that number. I'll warn you though, shipping is out of hand right now. Anything other than USPS makes it prohibitively expensive. I had a corporate FedEx account and my prices have tripled...tripled...I shit you not. So that makes USPS the only viable option right now. Any more questions and I'll be happy to answer everything offline to avoid the perception of spamming.
JGale Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 This now a coffee thread. Spamming is not an applicable nomenclature. Lesser gods are allowed to pitch their luxuries.
