Wraparound Misc

Question

Posted

I already know from the seller of the incoming Newport that the intonation is a bit off in the higher frets.

Important notes:

  • I don't often visit the higher frets
  • I probably don't care
  • I will most likely do nothing at all

With that said, are there any non-hideous compensated replacements that you would recommend?  Some brief Googling finds a lot of love for the MojoAxe bridges, and several butt-ugly options that would never be allowed into the house.

The look must remain the look.

Are Hamer and Gibson interchangeable in terms of the compensation/setting?  Do these things actually help?

Yours in ignorance,

Mitch

Thanks, all.  I should have used the search function earlier.

Both @burningyenand @veatchuse the MojoAxe CWT-UA on Newport 90s, so I think the experts have spoken.  I'll decide later if I even want/need it.

I'll leave the thread for posterity.

@bubs_42, the Music City Bridge "The Savvy" does look the part.  I'll consider it.  The adjustable one in the photo is ugly, and I'd rather have poor intonation than look at that thing.

Thanks again.

I pulled the Wilky wrap on my Korina Special Junior and replaced it with a Faber compensated that @cmatthesrecommended. It worked great…,and I DID visit the higher frets with no issue with that bridge.

To spice up the thread a bit, I have put the Schaller bridge on mine. That‘s all fine.

I have the Faber compensated wrap tail on 3 guitars, and it made them all better.  I highly recommend that one - super lightweight too.

I've got the Schroeder on a guitar and am completely happy with it, also think its the sexiest option out there.
