bruce919 Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 1987 G.C. by Hamer Chaparral guitar. Candy Apple Red, Own a piece of Hamer History here. If you are wondering what is a G.C. by Hamer, This is one of a few made for Guitar center in 1987, from my talked with others here at the HFC, Guitar Center was looking for a house brand of guitars and requested a few companies to provide examples. Only a few were made up with this headstock, they basically took a stock 1987 Hamer Chaparral and changed the headstock logo. Looks to be mostly stock. Its had a Roland pickup system installed on it sometime in it life & I believe it may have been re-fretted as well. Since owning I have only updated the bar on the Floyd Rose & replaced the locking nuts. Pickups are the stock DiMarzio made Hamer Slammers. It is missing the tremolo back cover plate. See photos for the bumps & scratches. sold
burningyen Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Wow, 10 years after Hamer shut its doors and I'm still learning about models I never knew existed.
crunchee Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 I hope that the 'GC' tie-in wasn't the beginning of the end for Hamer...
topekatj Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 That Monaco is a bit like the Korina Special K, only mahogany. With buckers.
Biz Prof Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 That giant brushstroke "G.C." logo is about as '80s as it gets. That is, unless it was somehow accented in turquoise and pink. Lol
scottcald Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 And of course now the GC house brand is Mitchell.
