WorstBandName Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 This is one of the first run Hamer BCR Juniors in TV Yellow built in 2000. It's lightweight, resonant unplugged, and sounds great. It has a thinner headstock with the Gotoh Strip Tuners, claimed 17 Degree Headstock Pitch, and Wilkinson Adjustable Stop Tail Bridge. It has an SD Hot p90. This one was barely played and I bought it in the past couple of years from BCR Music. It seems like new old stock except for some light scratches on the pickguard and some oxidizing (or something) to the rear strap button (which they didn't disclose as seen below). Here is their write up from the guitar when it was posted for sale: "This previously owned Hamer Special Junior - BCR Special Edition is in Excellent condition. The frets are very clean with no dents, pitting, or damage, 9.9 / 10 fret condition. The neck has no breaks, dings, or issues. Truss rod and tuning machines are in good working order. The body is very clean with no chips, dings, or buckle rash. The pickguard shows some VERY light scratches. Bridge hardware and pickup cover show light signs of use. The included original hard case is in great shape." This is a great guitar and they don't come up often as we know. This might be the best condition one out there. I've only played this one at home since acquiring it. Why let it go? I picked up a played junior-style guitar with a more 58-style neck I'm playing more. I'm less worried about bumping that one as this is so nice. We have kid #2 on the way and space is at a premium. I have a get picky with the guitars I am keeping and if I want to pick up any other cool Hamers that might come up for sale, I need to let a few go. Looking for SOLD PENDING PAYMENT shipped conus ppff. This covers what I have in it. I tend to ship on Fridays and Saturdays due to my work/parenting schedule. With a potential upcoming UPS strike, would likely need to go with FEDEX (in case that matters to you). I'm WorstBandName on The Gear Page as well where I have some buying/selling feedback scores. I'm using the photos that were used from BCR's listing but I can take pictures of whatever is needed. I will say that in the light of my home, it has a little more creaminess to the yellow vs. banana yellow. Thanks!
mirrorimij Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Oh man……I’ve got a cherry one from the second run but I’m very fond of those first few in TV Yellow. Great guitar!
burningyen Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 My old cherry one was a beast. The liveliest solidbody I’ve ever played.

I think I read a post where BCRGreg said he got to select the lightest, most resonant mahogany board for this initial run.
hamerhead Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 These things are waaaay more versatile than a single pickup slab of Mahogany should be. Incredible guitars.

mirrorimij Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Greg spec’d the guitar to use lightest body wood available. I was the one that actually selected the bodies in the woodshop. The bodies from the TV run all came from the same board.

thomasfxlt Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 I bought a trans-orange from a BCR run a few months ago and it’s nothing short of outstanding. One of my favorite guitars, and top 3 Hamers
vicjoy1945 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Haven't been on the board for a bit...may I ask what the price was for this beauty?

bry4321 Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Hey @mirrorimij I had a question for Greg Platzer today and when talking to him he mentioned that he had reshaped the pickguard because he didn't like the shape. So it is original but reshaped in other words.

For instance all shipped from factory with Wilky wraparounds and standard GC1 case but many were sold with a vintage or repro bridges and checkerboard cases.
kizanski Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 I have to say the alteration (above) flows a lot better than the original (below).
mirrorimij Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I can’t say I dislike the modification. I was just wondering why it looked different. I’m very grateful Greg spec’d these the way he did and I’m very happy to own one. I would have absolutely LOVED if they did at least one of these with a “Triple Threat” neck with thinner headstock but it never happened.
hamerhead Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 My first one had the original scratchplate (which I didn't even notice until now): The second one was modified: As a huge fan of both Bob's and Greg's work, I'm good either way. This particular guitar - with the Murkat pickup upgrade - is an absolute monster. ETA: Why 2, you ask? The first one had a tiny flaw - a 1" crack where the truss rod slot was cut too deep and left the back side of the headstock paper thin - and it nearly made me cry knowing the bandsaw was in its future. I flipped coins, going back and forth whether to keep it or not, as it was otherwise a killer guitar. In the end I knew I couldn't live with a CO that wasn't perfect. A heartbreaker, for sure.
