Somebody better get it~

At $8,000+ there's no real need to hurry, though.

They're asking 12-1500 for imports now. 8Gs for that is probably going to be a great deal...

Its been on Reverb for a few weeks.  There was a nicer black one that sold a few months ago for a similar price if I remember.

When asking for a price like that, hire a good photographer. For f*xks sake.

Just wondering if y'all know if these pickups look to be original? Looks like the pots are changed . These days with so many years since it was born, how much does non-original parts affect the value these days?

Hard to know what the right price is with some asking $15,000+ for four digits and anywhere from $5,000 and some asking $10k+ for 90's-00's Standards. I know asking isn't selling. It seems like there is a disconnect where lots of people on the forum here think these are over priced but the stores and people selling them are asking these prices for them. I know they are rare but they seem like a niche guitar and the people buying them you would think are likely all on this forum. I can see Gibson or Fender asking crazy prices in hopes to find "that guy/gal" who just has to have it and doesn't know the market but seems like the Hamer crowd would be hip to the hype in price. But maybe I'm wrong here.

I'm sure I will do as always and drag my feet and it will sell and then I will know that the price was right and then regret that another one got by me. A four digit is a bucket list for me (as I'm sure it is for many of you) but these are getting to be out of reach and rarely come up for sale.

One other thing I was wondering. The seller mentions seeing what looks like sunburst underneath the chips in paint. Any fear this is a refin? Or did Hamer do like old Fenders where they sprayed a bunch of sunburst guitars and then added black to fulfill either a special order for a black one or just to make black guitars?

And can anyone read what that serial # is? Difficult to see in the pic.

Sorry @Dave Scepter. I didn't mean to make you emotional 😄. I should have looked at the eBay ad. But in my defense, I have been watching this one on Reverb (I never really look for guitars on eBay these days) and if you look at the Reverb post, there is no mention of the serial # or the pickups or the pots (other than the pics) at all there. I assumed the listings would be the same but that was my mistake. Seems a more thorough description would have been beneficial in the Reverb listing. IMHO.

I asked him to post the serial number and this was his response... whenever, someone post "If you're serious about buying"... Drives me nuts!🤣

WTF is that???

"Nope"??  GFY.

"Nope," coincidentally, is what I said when I saw his asking price.

$8k for a guitar with replacement parts??? The seller is Wide Awake In Dreamland... 😴

Yes and no.

Certainly, for more seasoned aficionados and collectors of vintage gear, that's reasonably a major issue. For hacks like me, who value functionality and performance over being all-original and bone stock, not so much an issue.

Either way, I wouldn't pay 8K for a vintage guitar. Period. I would be apprehensive of bringing it out to perform and expose to potential theft or abuse.

YMMV
