SOLD!  Thanks!

--

This is the same guitar featured on page 74 of "The Ultimate" book.

This is a forty year old guitar, but I think you would be hard pressed to find one in better condition.

I'll regret selling this, but I'm gassing pretty hard for a different guitar, and the only way I can justify it is if I let this go.  However, if the guitar I'm gassing for is sold before this one sells, I will probably close this thread.

Price is fair and firm.  Comes with OHSC

In my personal opinion, this is THE BEST non-artist Prototype out there.  I’ve played it, I’ve listed after it, and I’ve regretted not buying it when I could have gotten it years ago.  Timing isn’t at all good for me, but somebody here NEEDS this one!

Is that a 81 or 82?.. kinda looks like a #2

It's a 2.  You're right, it's an 82.  Updated the topic desc.

Suddenly the unapproachable beauty we all were nuts over in high school announces her divorce!

It KILLED me not to buy it when Serial listed it all those years ago.  Remember the "My Favorite Hamers" thread - this was the guitar I posted first (that and Serial's green custom order).  This to me is the quintessential Hamer in the quintessential color.  This is James Honeyman-Scott.  This is Eddie Martinez.

Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Aramathea. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the Holy Grail in the Castle of uuggggggh!

Can someone tell me about the pickup?

Judging by the gap, is it a humbucker and a single coil side by side?

What’s the theory behind the design?

Any other color you can provide would be appreciated.  thanks

I've got an '82 Prototype, too... the prob'ly unique one with gold hardware and sort of a champagne frost finish. Mine is pretty unreal, and I suspect whoever owns this one will be very satisfied. Just feels good, and sound is surprisingly versatile.

Which one of you snagged this beauty?

For some reason, I am unable to post pics here.  The pics I take with my iPhone are apparently too big, and I have no idea how to make them lower quality/smaller file size to post.

So… I have no way to prove if it was me…or if it was not me.

Ok…I’ll confirm.   It was me.

I never noticed that the strap button on the butt end of the Prototype is offset to the bass side a little… on SOME examples….

That strap button is offset on all Prototypes I believe.  Pinky had the strap button relocated by a prior owner.
