Retirement Amp Sale: Thread Closed

EDIT 1/4/2024: Aiken no longer for sale. Thread closed.

EDIT 12/27/2023: Reeves and both Buddas are SOLD.

After 27 years running around the globe like a nut, I've just about completed my military retirement - it's time to clean out the closets.

This is not a fire sale and I can afford to keep them all - I just want less stuff and my gigging days are way behind me. I don't play these amps much any longer and they are just sitting around my practice space.

Here's a biggie - I do not wish to ship any of these amps. I am located in Central Illinois and equidistant from Chicago, Indy, and St. Louis. Buyers must pick up their purchases - I'm flexible on time now that my schedule is pretty much my own.

I've priced the amps accordingly.

Exception - I'll drive an hour in any direction to help make a sale happen. but I will require electronic payment in advance. No offense to anyone personally, but flakes seem to abound these days and I don't travel well. I simply need assurances that the transaction will go through as planned.

NOTE - I'll be driving to/from Nashville Dec 27th/28th, 2023. I'm happy to bring an amp or two with me as required and we can meet at a pre-determined public location that is convenient for me.

If you choose to absorb the cost, I'll drop your amp off at FedEx and you pay all costs for packing, shipping, and insurance. Buyer must arrange/pay FedEx directly so I'm out of the shipping loop completely.

Let me say that again - if you want an amp shipped to you, all costs, insurance, and liability are on you as the buyer. I simply don't want the additional complications of shipping and potential damage claims. I'm a disabled veteran and I have no business packing and shipping heavy packages, nor do I have the requisite patience to work through a damage claim as the shipper. Been there many times previously and I'm not going through it again.

I'm very picky about cosmetic condition and all of the following amps are in very good/excellent condition. Also, no strange odors - definitively never exposed to cigarette smoke, either.

Here's what I have for sale:

1. 1995 Budda Twinmaster head and matching Budda 2x12 cab. SOLD

2. Reeves Custom Jimmy 25 head (w/ power scaling). SOLD

3. Aiken Invader MK2, 18 Watt 1x12 combo. All original and includes reverb and built-in attenuator. Excellent condition and covers all the Marshall tones you'll ever need. They aren't making any more of these, and frankly I won't be disappointed if I keep it. $1500

4. 1995 Budda Twinmaster Ten- SOLD

I will upload pics within the next 24 hrs.

I accept no-fee Paypal, Zelle, and cash. Again, if I'm traveling to meet you, then electronic pre-payment is required. Prices are firm - please don't ask for layaway or if I'll take a '96 Buick in trade (both of these are from actual experiences selling gear).

Simple rules on this sale: "I'll take XXX amp" posted in this sale thread trumps any PM discussions or Q&As via email. In the event that two people commit to a purchase in the thread, then time stamp rules.

Finally, there are no surprises here - I have loads of feedback here, on Ebay (Bluesking89), and Reverb. I'm a (nearly) retired military officer and place great value on integrity - no funny business on my end, ever. I treat others how I like to be treated as a buyer and will provide additional pics/info as requested.

No idea why the Aiken pic is sideways - it's right side up on the TGP post and my pic files.

Man…. If I hadn’t just got the SD18, one of those Twinmasters would be coming to my house…

GLWTS!

Yeah, I can vouch for the power of Buddas, at least the OG ones. My old 18W Verbmaster easily kept up with a 60W Naylor side-by-side. GLWTS and congrats on the retirement.

Can't say enough about the fine people at Reeves.  My Custom 12PS turned 15 years old this year and was suffering from leaky filter caps. I emailed them with a few questions.  The response was a full conversation followed with a hand-drawn schematic with reference voltages.  These things are built to incredible standards.  Gut shot of my 12PS before the cap change:

Were there any audible/performance clues that the filter caps were failing?

Of course (otherwise, I'd have left it alone).  These were specifically power section filter caps (forgive me if this is too elementary and also for the clumsy explanation that a real amp tech could and should rip apart, but basically...) - the incoming AC hits a bridge circuit (the diamond shaped arrangement of diodes lower left on the board) to convert to DC.  The filter caps smooth out the current resulting in a much flatter DC.  When the filter caps begin to go you start to get hum as the "ripply" current coming off the bridge gets by.  The hum gets worse as the filter caps continue to fail.

I also had a silverfaced Twin with a symptom known as "motorboating" where it sounds like a little kid emulating a motorboat.  All the same thing, leaky dirty current getting by the filter caps.

The caps replaced were the four large caps on the left side of the photo.

That Buddha TM 2x10 intrigues the hell outta me... 🤔

It's a wicked amp - I cranked it up today with my SG Jr.

There's something magical about 2x10 speaker configurations when it comes to rock guitar tones.

Balls City.

What are the speakers in this? Open/closed back?

Completely unrelated question to the amp sale, but why do some people's posts show up as black text on a white background?  It's hard as hell for me to read.  And in this thread, Bluesking's first post starts normal, then changes to that black text/white background, then subsequent posts are normal again.  Is HE doing that or is it a site glitch?  Someone else's posts used to always be like that too.

Hello, I just stumbled upon this thread and I  am very interested in both of the Budda amps. I am not a member of the forum but I see that you are in central Illinois. I live about 35 miles outside of Chicago. Please email.

All the text looks normal when I view the ad verbiage.

Here's what it look like to me on a Windows 11 laptop and a Mac desktop:

Look at bottom of page and change the theme.

Holy cow!  I tried that and the whiteness just about blinded me!  I'll stick with the dark theme, but it doesn't make any sense that only part of the original post is black text/white background and all other posts are white text/dark black background.

Most likely, the text was copy pasted in and retained formatting.

So glad they sold. That 2x10 was tempting.

Same…

Wow.....I can't believe the Aiken Invader is still available. At $1500, this really is a steal. I have an Intruder and it's incredible.  Randall's amps are true works of art, not to mention how glorious they sound.

GLWTS.

Not to hijack, but I have one of those Mojotone 10s that I’ll sell for cheap if anyone wants it. Just sayin’….
