  2. @Saul GoodmanHere in STL that's like the cost of food for my whole family (dad, MIL, wife, daughter, me) at a small business. Is lunch expensive in your area?
  3. Today
  4. I built a "poor man's Leslie" about 12 or so yrs back. Took a pulled rotor from a junked Farfisa organ and put it into a birch plywood cab with scrap ends left over from my cab building days. Threw in an Eminence 10" hi-powered speaker that was a bonus on a pedal trade deal. After wiring for 120VAC, I experimented with the rotor speed control system. Initially used an old tube radio potentiometer to switch on/off and vary the speed. Nice and simple solution for awhile, but I really wanted to do swells/decays in real time while I was playing rather than manually changing the speed by hand. A old sewing machine foot controller worked nicely for that but demanded a bit of foot dexterity to get nice smooth variations, so think I went back to the potentiometer. It worked well and sounded very good, though it was clunky to transport. Recorded it once using 2 mics 180 degrees off-axis of the rotor on the top of the cab and it sounded glorious (think Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). I ended up selling it after a few months as it never left my basement studio and saw pretty limited use there. The guy that bought it thought he hit the jackpot as he'd been looking for an affordably priced rotary speaker system, so that was cool. Plenty of free older organs here - you'll see 'em on sidewalks or as giveaways in return for removal from premises (especially seniors and such).
  5. I was thinking instead of spending $400 more dollars I could run my Keeley Blues Driver into my Tri-tube and then into the DR and have essentially the same pedal as the Tube Driver in this video. Then I could see if I could run the Tri-tube into the Keeley and see if I could get the "same" reverse configuration like the Tube driver. Mostly I was thinking about just the Tri-tube to get the left side of the Tube Driver. What concerns me is the Zero watt appointment in the Tri-tube. I didn't know if that somehow would damage the DR going in the front. I would have to start with the attenuation and volume on zero and go up little by little. I've been running the Tri-tube in the loop of my Mesa Cali Tweed as normal. Not really as a third channel, because the Rhythm Channel of the Tri-tube and the Cali Tweed sound quite similar, but for convenience as the Tri-tube just sits on top of my desk where I can control it easily.
  6. And you've "never been this cheap before!" 😆
  7. I think some people call this a Dirty Boost. It's got some gain, push, compression, and EQ changes. I'm tempted even though anyone looking through can see I'm selling thousands of dollars worth of pedals right now. Usually a sale like this means they're going to discontinue this model or maybe go to a new version. I've had a few J Rockett pedals. I think this is one of their old school builds that has the super heavy enclosure. Way overbuilt.
  8. Sure. Keep in mind that pedal is more or less a blackface and tweed circuit for the 2 settings. It probably works better if you have an FX loop, which I am assuming your DR does not have. But if you set the DR to a clean (pedal platform) setting, you can effectively have 3 presets. The second channel can get you more into the D or M range, if that is what you are looking for. Very versatile.
  9. And he says he will next start working on a huge sounding tape delay.....
  10. The old argument: the sound of an actual rotating speaker/baffle moving air can't be done with a pedal. Yeah, you can get in the ballpark (Strymon Lex is the best I've heard in a live full band setting and made me rethink my AR112), and yeah you don't have to grunt another heavy cabinet, but that 3D sound won't come from a pedal. Leslies are magic.
  11. So great. Love everything about this.
  12. One of my all-time favorites!

It's on Tidal https://tidal.com/album/2890847/u And on Spotify "The 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Slide It In (released in 2009) includes both the US mix and the UK mix. Track Breakdown: US Mix (Tracks 1–10): Remixed by Keith Olsen. Features guitar work by John Sykes, bass by Neil Murray, and a polished, aggressive "American" hard rock sound. UK Mix (Tracks 12–19, bonus tracks): Original mix by Martin Birch. Features guitars by Micky Moody and Mel Galley, bass by Colin Hodgkinson, and the band's traditional bluesy British tone.
