PSA 10% off used gear GC to Oct 21
DaveL replied to bry4321's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Nope… I bought something that was a decent used price on a Monday. When the promo came out later that week, they adjusted it for me Pretty happy. If your purchase is within the last 45 days, you should ask them to adjust it (basically they return it and rebill it) -
Well aware of that, too. BUT... can the Kahler Steeler do drop D or any other number of alternate tunings without a D Tuna and/or unlocking the nut? Do the saddles on the Steeler have 3 direction adjustability to set almost any intonation, action or string spacing? Seriously though watch the video- they list, in much greater detail, it's attributes and capabilities. I can save you and anyone else a good bit of time and pointless debate by saying I've done my due diligence in researching the options. Ya know, like, trem systems are kinda my thing.

These guys have great hair.

Fuck the band... I wish that was my backyard patio, I'd never go back in the house... I can already smell the BBQ grill 😋 -
No, the edge can’t, but the Kaylor Steeler, their Floyd variant, absolutely can. Just push the bar straight toward the floor, and it’s locked. Grab it to use it, and it’s unlocked.

They've done that for me also. Bought a used guitar. They started a 10% off sale past my return date but I called anyways. They gave me a 10% refund, no questions asked. -
That trem may be expensive, but for someone who has a collection of guitars there will be a time to start expanding into experimental parts. That is how a Peterson strobe tuner ended up in my possession. @diablo175 has a good reason for the Shark. Go for it!
-
It's a set neck construction so, you're likely seeing where the neck is glued in and then routed over for the neck p'up? I need to ask Attila about that...
-
In fairness, the Edge and the Shark are an apples to oranges comparison. The Shark is closer to a Kahler mechanically (and as someone who is NOT a fan of Kahler cam bridges, that in of itself is somewhat remarkable). Per my earlier post, the selling point of the Shark is being able to lock it, on the fly, into a fixed bridge. Not aware of the Edge being capable of that, or am I missing something? I'm not trying to sell anyone on a $800 bridge. If I weren't in the financial situation that I am, I wouldn't be even thinking about it, either. But it does address numerous issues and sets up the distinct possibility of only needing to bring one ax to a gig/appearance. I can do fixed bridge, drop tuned and fully floating tunes all on the same ax. To me, that's worth the 800 clams. YMMV

Your diagram looks like the neck pup is under the neck...? I want to get a V someday.

That trem looks great, but the price blows it up big time

Met him a couple of times in Austin and travelled with him when I was doing tour management for Guy Forsyth - he was in the band at the Cognac Festival. A really great human being. Rest in Peace.
-
And that price does not include the nut 😳 Nut Price: The matching Shark Modular Nut or Fixed Nut "must be bought separately", priced around $134 to $209 depending on the variant (with the modular version typically running about $174).
-
Yeah, looks cool, but I wouldn't drop 800 clams on it. I'm with Victor. The Ibanez Edge original was the best trem I've used. It never went out of tune. To me the locking studs give it the edge.

Just got back. 5th row. It was like having him in your living room. Absolutely jaw-dropping. Look for all my stuff in the For Sale section.

Not those. Outer circle has that. : ) It's been a while. Post pics of yer "got sumthin in common" guitars. I've been wanting to get these two together for a while. Special thanks to @stratacus!

I was in the Rockford GC on Sunday trading in several guitars. I can confirm that the 10% discount is real and there were no pre-discount markups. I'd established a good rapport with the store manager as we worked through my deal, so I felt comfortable telling him (politely) that he'd be lucky to get $1,500 for that Special. He was receptive and interested what I thought the issues were. He also told me that prices on all vintage trade-ins were determined by "corporate". I assume that means the the Hollywood store.

For your listening pleasure: the mighty Gary Moore beating the shit out of his Strat. Features Jack Bruce on vocals as well. The fun begins at approx. the 1 minute mark...........

800 sheets for a tremolo 😲 I have bought cars for less than a tenth of that! It looks great but I'll take my chances with my Gotoh Floyd's until my numbers come in 👍
