Posting YouTube Links - What Am I Doing Wrong?
velorush replied to Dana_V's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I mentioned this yesterday. It seems to be hit or miss - some post the link with a message about that particular video 'not allowing embedding' or some such and then others behaving as they used to. An : https://youtu.be/9a2WW9RDlkM?si=MFqCq8hkA5zIamEP Pasting that ^^ gets the message: The link could not be embedded because youtu.be does not allow embedding of that video. Reads like YouTube has changed permission settings. Google AI says: You will get that embedding error if the video creator has turned off the embedding setting on their channel, or if you are using a shortened youtu.be link instead of the properly formatted youtube.com/embed link required by iframes. To fix this: Verify Embed Permissions: Check the video's settings in YouTube Studio and ensure the "Allow embedding" box is checked under the License section. Use the Correct URL Format: Change your embed URL from https://youtu.be to https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID to prevent browser blockages. If you are a viewer trying to watch the video, the creator has blocked it from being viewed on third-party websites, and you will need to click the link to watch it directly on YouTube. Okay(?) If I modify the URL, above, to youtube.com/embed/ I get (instructing the board to paste the video reference as plain text): www.youtube.com/embed/9a2WW9RDlkM?si=MFqCq8hkA5zIamEP And I'll post the Reply to see if the board picks up the reference ETA: didn't work, but I got some error message from the board right before it posted. I wasn't able to read it before it went away. ETAA: Google AI further recommended (for WordPress sites) pasting in the URL (rather than the Share link), so here goes: ANIKA’S VIRAL “OK” RETURNS — BIGGER & MORE PLAYFUL | RUSH FORT WORTH FINAL 7½ MINUTES UNCUT - YouTube Again, I got the The link could not be embedded because www.youtube.com does not allow embedding of that video. error. 💩 -

Posting the link to the video is usually all that you need to do. It is definitely behaving differently now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8SSHvc7zGo -

I was attempting to post a YouTube link - something I guess I haven't done in a while - but I can't seem to figure out (or maybe I forgot) how to make it come up as a "preview" rather than just a clickable link. I tried using the "Embed" option, but that didn't work either. The video is from one of my own YouTube channels and the permissions are set to "Allow Embedding." Am I having a senior moment or did something change? Thanks in advance. Recent example of a clickable link: Recent example of a preview:

Hamer would have ordered logo sheets in batches. Someone filling an order may have pulled up the font on their computer and printed out what looked good on that day. The "USA" definitely changed over the years. -

I have never understood how to make an overdrive/boost pedal work. Please give us the Boost for Dummies simple explanation. -

Agreed but...too be fair, last time the band I'm in played out I had two 4x12s blasting behind me and it was pretty glorious. 🤣 -

I heard/read the same thing years ago, too. Audiences and musicians alike tend to listen with their eyes anyway, from what I've learned, me included. -
Thanks for the tip... I've been looking for something like this to start checking/repairing some of the vintage receivers that I have laying around👍 And it's on sale 😃

These tend to flush @Travis out of the woodwork. -
Peak is the real shit. I have a $25 unit but you have to put the leads into a slot, so testing small devices is a pain, involving old resistors leads sticking out and wrangling them to contact the cap leads.

I don't know. USA looks kinda strange. ( the one on the right is the only font I know thru the years) If anyone has the same font on USA as the one on the left, I'd really like to look. Just want to learn something I didn't know before...or did I? -
I would have to say it was more Yacht Rock than metal. It was mainly 40-50 year Olds. They wanted their generations music. So that's what we played. I Scorpions may have been ok tho. We did some Skid Row and that went over well....

No, I have had a Fluke 73 III that doesn't do capacitance. If the Peak actually does 'in circuit' testing, which I take to mean you don't have to remove the capacitor to test it, and other testers would require removal, - that feature would be really useful.
