Kurtstuff bought and sold his, I believe to a gentleman with a handle with "SRV" in it. Have tried to get more. No dice. Jol said I should have made those a "Designer Series" run of 10.
Brooks Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 explain the term "zandard". robin zander standard?
Hackubus Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Yo!I've got#78. I'd be the "OKC" owner. Even tho I'm on the east coast of OK. Next to the Black Sea Of Arkansas.
David B Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Have tried to get more. No dice. Jol said I should have made those a "Designer Series" run of 10.So do a run of 10 4 digit style Standards with the long headstock. I'll buy at least one!
kevinT Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Opps, I didn't know there was a formal name "Zandard" representing a specific guitar. I just used the term in the other thread to reflect a Dean Z and a Hamer Standard that were shown together....Hence Zandard.
BTMN Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I LOVE that run Dave. Great idea. I consider this my "Zandard". It's an '01 Standard Custom I hope to age gracefully.
Hamerica Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 explain the term "zandard". robin zander standard?Hey Brooks!I don't think anybody answered the question so I will try to do my best. I believe that the guitar in question is #0004 and originally was a gift from Rick Nielsen to Robin Zander. Hencefore, the nickname Zandard. If you have purchased the recently released 30th Anniversary at Budokan, you can get a couple of shots of the Zandard in action with Rick. It is also on page 125 of the Guitars of the Stars book that Bill Rich put out a few years ago. The Elduave run of three is one of the coolest limited Standard runs in a long time. I was hoping that Hamer might decide to make some reissues of #0055 but as of this date, it has not been done. Best wishes,Hamerica
Devnor Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Although I've resigned myself to not buy anymore NEW Hamers, I would buy a Zandard if given the chance.
Feynman Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 And I would buy your black boomered badass Standard. Sounds like a good plan!
Devnor Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 The Calphalon would have to be part of the deal
kenjones Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I took this picture when I saw Cheap Trick in 1979.
Kilroy is all about... Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I took this picture when I saw Cheap Trick in 1979. yeah...Louisville Gardens, 12APR79, and he played it for Need Your Love and sometimes in the first couple of songs. I was not allowed to attend that Trick concert and had to wait entire year to be permitted to experience my first rock concert: Rush-Permanent Waves-april 80. 0225 is for sale and 'cheap' at $3.75K.. kilroy
Hamerica Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Really nice pic Ken!Brings back memories. Bump for Kilroy on the Standard Sale - Good Luck!Hamerica

John E Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 It's an '01 Standard Custom I hope to age gracefully. Izzat my old Standard perchance? Engraved cavity covers? It didn't have double-whites when it lived with me.
BTMN Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 No engraved covers. It looks like it came from Squiggy's Guitars before the guy I bought it from. Double Creams are WCR Darkburst neck and Ironman bridge.
BTMN Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Couple things sent me looking for a Zandard thread rather than start a new one. I'm excited to see how much the original Zandard #0004 is used in the Budokan especially the dvd portion of it. NICE!!! I like the Cream cavity covers on the back of the original. Did the Zandard run have that? I posted my Hamer Zandard version above my '01 Standard Custom. Lil more Yellow than the Zandard run but Dead right for me. I had Cream covers put on my Mighty Hamer Daytona Mite when it was built up and was thinking how much I ended up with that guitar being in the Zandard vein too. I'm a LUCKY Sum Sum.... Life IS Good!

The back covers on the Zandard are the black brushed type.

The back covers on the Zandard are the black brushed type.My thoughts exactly. Rick played either #0000 or #0004 pretty much the whole night. I think he used a Les Paul on one thing and his red Strat on "Ain't That a Shame", but other than that, only the Hamers seemed to be getting any airtime. I didn't recall that when I had the VHS tape, but I haven't watched that in years.Made me kinda miss my natural '79 Standard!
srvwannab Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Yep, its me- I'm the proud owner of the Zandard that I got from Kurt. Its just so perfect I don't have the courage to play it. I've got a couple of others I play when I want to scratch that itch. It is always hard for me to hold on to guitars I don't play so I had considered selling the Zandard a time or two. After getting a chance to hang out with Rick and Robin backstage in Reno one night with Kilroy (hang out might be an over statement)- I have valued the Zandard more. It was a great show and a great evening. Plus, the guitar is cool as heck-

The first is to introduce my boy Zander to Robin, and the 2nd is to have the Zandard signed (tastefully, of course).
Hamerica Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Hey Srvwannab,Thanks for the post. OK, its official, all three have been located and are doing well. Great post about Rick, Robin and Kilroy. I think I recall the post that Kilroy made.Hamerica
