belgian Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Just plugged this baby in : # 8 0548 that makes it a late '78 One of the 5 dots with natural finish from that year. Very clean and with a silky finish (didn't knew they made them like this, then) Found it at 40 miles from where I live, after a tip from a friend. More later..... Thanks Willy ! (I know you'll read this)
belgian Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 nice!!!Is that a 1 peice top?I thought they all had 1 piece veneer tops.

BruceM Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Wow! Can't wait to get my hands on that one!
BubbaVO Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 There's something just too cool about the top. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it really pulls my eye in. Bet it sounds very nice!
Feynman Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Let's hear the whole story, Conrad!Yes, please don't keep us waiting too long. Gorgeous.
belgian Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 The owner traded it for another guitar in 1980 in a guitarshop in Antwerp. The guitar is in a satin finish with even the headstock, the logo is in a kind of "smokey" yellow. Weird but very nice.
bondedbybrick Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Conrad - what kind of pickups are those? Looks like a Dimarzio in the bridge.....
belgian Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Conrad - what kind of pickups are those? Looks like a Dimarzio in the bridge..... The seller claims he never touched the pickups, so it should be the usual Dimarzio's. I'll clean up, restring and intonate tomorrow, so I'll have confirmation then.I checked the wiring and everything looks original.
ET_KenW Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Very nice. Is it my eyes, or does the logo look angled? Almost like is following the string path to the tuner.
Disturber Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Very nice. Is it my eyes, or does the logo look angled? Almost like is following the string path to the tuner. Same as on my 1979 Custom Sunburst. The body looks like a two piece? Unusual for an old Sunburst.

serial Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Interesting-the logs list #8 0546 and #8 0547 as "Custom Natural" and #8 0548 as "natural". That's the only designation for "custom natural" that I'm aware of. All are dated November 26, 1978.
hardheartedbill Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 dang, a one off from 78 40 miles away, destiny!
tomteriffic Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Man, with the cool stuff that is floating around over there right now, I might have to move to Yerp for a while, just to see what falls into my lap.
