  1. So I'm first up. Let me just say how honored I am to be a part of this, and Gene (BTMN) is one cool individual for allowing us to share one unique man's vision of his guitar. I sold my last Hamer a couple of years ago to focus on a few core guitars, but strapping Wyldbil's Special on instantly brought back everything I love about Hamers - how effortless they play and a thick, but cutting tone. I had an '81 Special, but it was nowhere near the guitar in tone that this one is. You can hear it below. Unfortunately, we don't have a show until April 5th, but we started learning a song last week that fits in perfectly here, as it's a song by an early Hamer adopter, "Kid" by The Pretenders. It's just a quick one using my iPhone sitting on the mixer so you don't get to see the other half of the band, but you do get see whats important, and Wyldbil's guitar, too. Signal path is: guitar, Carbon Copy delay, '74 Fender Super Reverb. Of course, I flub the solo in front of all my Hamer brethren, but what can you do?

  2. Amen to that last part. ^^This + a kajillion No offense to Axl, Dean, Jon Krammerer, or anyone else who's had their brand dropped in this thread. I can go to GC and find a dozen or more serviceable guitars at the price-point we're talking about here, but that ain't the point. My money is earmarked for something I could look at as a continuation of the Hamer legacy. Period.

  3. Let's face it, there are a few options out there for a WMG. What is the most compelling thing about this one (for me at least) is the builder(s)... Master Northfield, if you build these, I'll find a way to buy one.

  4. That is a great idea that would help to bring the price down on this end.

  5. well, Bob, that was awesome! I called Judy over to see, as She was dancing to the jam in the kitchen, "Hey, it's the pirate 5 that was here last week..." Judy approved good times!

  8. It's not a Diablo II as no middle pickup, but a Diablo Ltd, Ed. These were made for the UK (Trace Elliot) in1993 and there are 20 of them. Nicer body wood, cherry sunburst and bird's-eye maple neck. The toggle switch instead of a blade is another nice touch.

  10. When I googled the HFC at the office to go to the forum, the above video popped up as second in the search. It was before my time, but I had to hunt down the back story. Sorry for the zombie bump, but you guys are fucking awesome.

  12. You would be covering up Bil's personal choice of mojo. A list of HFC'ers who play it will be cool. I like this idear. A small "journal" in the case each person can sign/date and maybe tape a picture in...

  16. I never had the opportunity to meet, or even converse with, Wyldbil, but from what I have heard about him I'm pretty sure he would wholeheartedly approve and probably say "play the hell out of it boys and girls!"

  17. Unless you are in Asia, Europe, or the UK don't know why you can not be a part of this. So........ I thank you for the offer but shipping to Alaska has gotten really out of hand the past few years. I am afraid that it would be cost prohibitive. But if it gets up in the Northwest let me know, I may try to work something. Anyone else from Anchorage area that would be interested?

  18. If you send it up here I'll be happy to pass it around at one of the 4-3-2-1 Club gatherings...and you could show up and bring it home personally afterwards!

  20. Sounds like fun. What is this "semi yearly Seattle/Northwest Jam"? I am only a couple hours south of there. In my "jam class" they are leaning on me (heavily) to do some singing as well as playing. Now THAT is a scary thought!
