As I went through this thread, it popped in my head that gmaslin might consider an 83 prototype.3 points

Please note that the SFX you are clearly taken with is from the most economical line of the import range, if you buy anything USA made, it'll take your breath away3 points

Back at home, I humbly submit these two quickly cobbled images: WMG 1 WMG 2 They could have used some blending, but I figure you either like this or don't and no amount of additional editing would do anything to promote the concept...2 points

It's easy to get confused about the import Hamer line as there have been several, and some are much better than others. In general, for import Hamers, the headstock tells it all: 1. "Hamer Slammer Series" were made in Korea (MIK) and generally regarded as the best of the imports. 2. "Hamer" were also MIK and well-regarded 3. "Hamer XT Series" are either made in China (MIC) or Indonesia (MII). 4. "Slammer by Hamer" were made somewhere (MIC?). These are listed in the generally accepted order of fit and finish, playability, and overall quality. #1 and #2 are excellent value for the money. Many people (including me) start with one of these, and move on to USA made Hamers. #3's are a bit hit-and-miss, there are some dogs and there are some good ones. #4's are bottom-of-the-barrel, avoid-at-all-cost imports. If $300 is your budget, stick with #1 or #2. As said before, while guitars in #1 and #2 are very good, and generally better than almost all import Epiphone's, Squire's, etc., there is a noticeable difference these and a US-made Hamer. No comparison between USA Fender or USA Gibson and USA Hamer. The USA F or G are factory made, and even the custom shops from F or G can have some dogs. USA Hamers are true master-luthier custom-shop grade guitars. It is possible to find 1. US Hamer Eclipse 6-string for $500-$600 (mini-humbuckers) 2. US Hamer Special from the '90's forward for $600-$800 (P90's or std humbuckers) 3. US Hamer Studio or Artist for $750-$1000 depending on top and condition. 4. US Daytona (Strat) for $700-$1000 5. US T51 (Tele) for $600-$1000 These are EXCEPTIONAL values for a used guitar - well worth a lit extra saving to get one, and especially if you by from an HFC'r. Hang out, learn from the experts here (there are many) - They know their sh*t!2 points

I submit this again for body shape and neck. All the pup combos said above could go on there, the Sustain Block too. Too blingy? No flashy top and an opaque finish.2 points

You're not a real social butterfly, are you? You want help from the most knowledgeable Hamer people on the planet who are also some of the friendliest you'll find anywhere, but you're really coming off as a bit of a.....unfriendly person. Lighten up. We'll help if you let us. Ball licking is optional.2 points

I'll put it very simply: If Northfield and NEWMAN60 are building it, I'm going to find a way to buy one. I don't need 100% to have the Hamer logo on there. To me, those guys are a huge part of the magic in the guitars I know and love.1 point

For what it is worth, I was one who used to insist the gap between USA Hamers and import Hamers was smaller than everyone around here claimed. Over time, my opinion changed to the point that I no longer desire any import Hamers. They can be very, very good, but even at their best, they lack some of the sheer awesome badassery of the USA Hamers. But it's cool to fully investigate the imports. You may be like me and eventually learn to appreciate the upgrades of the USA Hamers. Or you may be so satisfied that you never get the itch to try one. At some point, however, you should come to an HFC gathering to try out a USA Hamer risk-free. You might be pleasantly surprised...1 point

Hey Gina! Nice to have you here! USA Hamers vs import Hamers is sorta like Volkswagen vs Rolls Royce: same sport, different league. If you ever have a chance to play a USA Hamer, you'll instantly see and feel the difference. Generally speaking, the earliest imports are considered the best of the imports and say 'Slammer Series' under the Hamer logo. The Stellar model is among the second wave of imports (plain Hamer logo, nothing else), and are decent quality. The 'Slammers' are more recent and generally considered the worst of the bunch. Hamer has the most baffling naming system ever, so if you're at all confused you're right at home. That's just a quick, broad overview. You came to the right place for answers. The search function might help you out, too.1 point

Keep the dealers out of this one. If you want to get the pricing down, the only way to do that here is a direct model. They won't keep lists or handle deposits for free.1 point

TLE is too derivative just like a T62 or Daytona. Too close to a typical seen a million of them instrument. Don't we want something that has at least some definitive Hamer design/style whether from the recent era or earlier? Talladega has its own thing while has a familiar look. Maybe a custom order that should have been made a production model like the Electra glide or whatever the triple buckers with p90 was called. No inlays seems like a no brainer. No binding. Another idea is to have a Hamer dealer to sell reservations. $1k per spot (or whatever the WMG will cost). Once they collectively sell a predetermined minimum then reservations are non refundable and they will take orders. Options would be the HFC WMG or any Hamer model that has been produced. If you don't go with the WMG you will be charged a fee for a quote to get something else. Quote fees are non refundable and if you go forward with the custom order you will have to pay in advance. I know it's a dream but maybe it would get the bean counters to agree if they have $ upfront. It has been over a year since they "closed" and they are still making Hamers. Where is the love? Aaaahhhhhhrrrgggghhhhhh!!! Rant over.1 point

Import Hamers don't suck, unless you compare them to domestic Hamers. Sorry.1 point

I honestly can't help but to get pissed off quite a bit when I see the magic that unfolds when these gentleman touch a piece of wood and then to realize we are witnessing the last vestiges of a once great guitar company...1 point
