  1. That was quick. Are you sure that is the best you can do (no disrespect to anyone's suggestions).
  2. Sorry, but there are still quite a few guitars I'd like to have, and I see no point in passing up a good deal on any of them if they show up and I have the $$, so count me out. I'll watch from the sidelines, and probably laugh like I did a year ago when Mitch battled Sean (names right?) to see who broke down first on a similar pledge. And that makes me ask: What reward comes to whomever wins? And, what penalty is extracted from those who lose? Last year some $$ was on the line, so let's see some skin in this game.
  3. Said out loud: "Oh my God." Sorry to sound like a teenager, but that is really a stunning axe.
  4. I can't think of any place more public than the local police station parking lot. That's where I'd do something like a CL deal. Good luck!
  5. I'm the Man has always been an incredibly cool song. I always loved the line "Skateboards, you know I almost made them respectable." Still makes me chuckle.
  6. Love it! Gorgeous.
  7. Makes me wonder what pickups can be used on those two. (sorry)
  8. Awesome! They'll remember it for years and years. Well done!
  9. Bigger than Kristofferson? Is that possible? Back on subject: Allman Brothers, Live at Fillmore East. I'm working on Stormy Monday, so it is getting played a lot.
  10. Yeah, Blackstar, they want and are used to responding to bling. I like greenie better, however.
  11. Most recent disc spun around here was Dire Straits Making Movies. Big nostalgia indulgence! Hey Jakeboy, Shake Some Action! Love the Flaming Groovies, and I well remember Teenage Head.
  12. That sounds pretty cool, and well worth the standing O.* *Unsolicited, and possibly unwelcomed thread hijack: Had a professor I greatly respected tell us one day "Save the compliment of a Standing Ovation for only the very best performances. It is the ultimate compliment you can give performing artists, so don't cheapen it by giving it away for merely good performances. Sit in your chair and clap enthusiastically for good art, but only stand when you've had an experience that filled you with awe and wonder." He went on for quite a while, but since he was an impressive guy I've tried to do what he said, and have gotten a lot of strange looks at times when everyone else around me was standing and clapping. Sigh. Pretty old school. (performances by my kids at school, obviously, made me violate this overall guidance). Regardless, his advice didn't seem to align well with rock culture, but it sure sounds like it fit perfectly with what you saw.
  13. The original article shamed me into deleting the two out of nearly 4000 songs I have in my iTunes account I didn't pay for. I wish I hadn't gotten those. Shame on me.
  14. Welcome back, Geoff. We missed you.
  15. Winston Churchill said "Never wrestle with a pig. You'll get dirty and the pig will enjoy it." I think that pretty much applies here. I'm cleaning up.
  16. Well, since you said it was your "favorite guitar store," I would say that you should talk to them and work it out. They know you, and you know them, and they know you didn't do anything wrong. Good people will come to some honorable, honest solution in a case like this.
  17. I'm 50, am a living room guitarist, and have a Korina Vector. I know it could be viewed as ridiculous, but I don't care. I'm pretty damn responsible in every other aspect of my lif, and love guitars, including Vs and Explorers. (Kiz, your Korina Standard really out to sleep next to my Vector, and I ought to have the checkbook to make it happen...)
  18. Paul Kantner, I just read, doesn't like WBTC, either. Different Strokes for Different Folks. 35 years ago I was a huge JA plan, with posters on the wall, belt buckles displaying my undying loyalty, the whole shebang. I even have a copy of Bark, (a horrible album) still in its paper bag. In high school I though Miracles was a fantastic song, and JS show in 1978 was the first concert I ever attended. I still have a Fender Medium Tortoiseshell guitar pick Kantner used to play Volunteers with in 1980 or so. But I never cared for them much after Mickey Thomas started with them, and haven't replaced my vinyl with digital. I don't know if they changed more, or if my tastes did. Edited to add: Thanks for the review, Steve.
  19. I'm thrilled for you! What a fantastic gift, and what a cool way to present it! Like someone else said, that speaks volumes of a fundamental love. And, that guitar is stunning in its beauty. Enjoy!
  20. Lovely, but that it is a relisting takes some of the luster off.
