PSA: TRAINWRECK FS
Stike replied to kizanski's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Why are vintage strats and LP's so expensive? Hell, why are 4-digit Standards so expensive? I wouldn't buy any of that stuff at current prices unless I had more money than I know what to do with, but apparently there are plenty of people who have exactly that kind of money and if they want to spend it on that, well they're no dumber than anyone else spending money on what is IMO stupid bullshit (and the list of stuff that falls in that category is virtually limitless ).-Austin I KNOW why that stuff is so expensive, and whether or not you'd pay x-amount for any of it is not the question. I really don't think I need to list the reasons why vintage Strats, Les Pauls and even 4 digit Standards continue to appreciate year after year. That is all not debatable. I asked why these amps command the prices they do. HOW have they become legendary? 1. Ken is dead. 2. He didn't make many. 3. He got/gets lots of props from other amp builders. 4. Booteek message board chatter, see Jaye's hillarious post. 5. Brad Paisley paid a shit ton for one recently so return to point 4. -
I've always longed for some raking, too. The best guitar techniques are the ones that share a name with a landscaping task.Well, that would explain why my solos remind everyone of fertilizer. They are way better than my backup vocals. So any other mentions of great guitar solos that are brief yet totally badassed without detracting from the song as a whole ie sticking out like a turd in a punchbowl?

+1. Personally I think he's a funny dude from various interviews I've seen/read. Maybe if his music gig shits the bed he'll turn his stand up comedy hobby into a career.

Peavey Rockmaster preamp, Peavey Classic 60 power amp. It's well under a grand and 3 channels of goodness.

Pore filler will color the wood if you don't have a barrier coat. Sometimes that's the look you want, other times no. You don't have to spray a sealer coat before filler. The old Gibson cherry over mahogany is red colored pore filler.
-
The grain filler is only filling the wood pores, it's not a finish or even a sealer. For what you want just a few good coats of plain old lacquer will do the job. If you don't care about a level finish (Gibson faded or that PRS satin for example) just spray a few coats of RR cherry an call it a day. If you want a more traditional look hit it with a wash coat of clear lacquer, porefill, clear lacquer, sand, color, clear, wet sand, buff. This is pretty abrieviated but you get the idea.

if you care: Van Halen Tour Rehearsal Story and Photos
Stike replied to Taylor Player's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I might actually catch those guys if they ever toured again. One band I love that I've never seen. Of course, I'm not much of a fan of anything after 1980 or so, but Angus and Malcolm? I named my dog after one of the Young Bros. (my wife wouldn't let me name my son after either). I'm with you guys. My sons middle name is Malcom and he digs AC/DC too. I also have a potential meet n' greet hookup if they ever do tour again. That would be a bitchin' pic, me, my boy and Malcom. I've said it before, the Van Halen brothers are douchebags and I'm not givin' them my money. I saw them in 1984, no need to fuck up that good memory. -
Where?

GW seems to be geared more toward rock/metal types. GP's coverage is more diverse.

'Sex Bomb" by Tom Jones, 3 days now. -
I hate F holes. The old Gretsch tiger eye is the best looking arch top cutout ever IMO.

I was thinking more from the sell it locally standpoint. That and I've been mildly interested in the V3.
