  1. White pearloid of course.
  2. Absolutely right, not many people think about it, but they really contribute to the classic VH sound... Good point. That's one thing that was definitely lacking on the reunion tour. I'll add (at least in the case of the Raleigh NC show) a front of house sound man who can mix. For the money I payed that mix was unacceptable. I'm not buying the "it's the venue" crap either. I saw Keith Urban shortly before that in the same venue and in almost the same section and the mix was pristine. There's a couple VH albums that are desert island discs for me but fuck the Van Halen brothers.
  3. Peers ain't that short. He's wide.
  4. Bottom is more simple, did that to my Epiphone Moderne but wished it was on the top wing so when the V came along that's what I did. Took a REALLY long dril bit to run a wire hole to the bridge pickup and then to the control cavity.
  5. I did that to my V too but on the opposite wing, I hate topmount output jacks.
  6. That was pretty easy. The back wall is a piece of cardboard cut to fit and the fur was Spray 77'd to it and IIRC the cardboard was Spray 77'd to the back wall of the cabinet. The bottom is a piece of foam from JoAnn Fabrics and I think I used some adhesive for foam. The neck support is a piece of plywood and I just cut the neck slots out with a jigsaw. If you're feeling extra talentless and hacky just find a cabinet that will contain one of these.
  7. I started with some cheap run of the mill utility cabinet from a big box store and did up the inside like an Ultracase. The V obviously doesn't fit. The black smudge on the carpet is child damage, hence the cabinet
  8. What they said.
  9. I wanna see YOU play the opening of "Thunderstruck" while laying on the ground doing the Curly spin.
  10. It's almost criminal that he's not a massive star.
  11. The bizzaro Smell The Glove-None more white.
  12. I'm a call away motherfuckers! You know what I would have done to your drummer after he passed out. I would have stopped at the first Cracker Barrel I saw, set his kit up on the porch, and left him in a rocking chair. That guy's a tool.
  13. The first time I saw that I so wished I had been in the room with a high powered rifle.
  14. To anyone who thinks everything out of Seattle in the early 90's was serious and shoegazing I offer them this.
  15. I kind of remember a quote from Eddie Van Halen about hair bands. It was something to the effect of how the way all the Sunset Strip bands copied other successful bands was similar to inbreeding, sooner or later you're gonna wind up with retarded kids. And I though Tuff were some of the worst offenders of weak ass hair metal but I think the Black n' Blue clip might take the cake. I'm all for a hot shit solo but I'm not sitting through some pussiefied, horse shit, shlock to hear it.
  16. This pic reminds of how much Eld rocks! I only got to share a stage with Dave once ( too bad it was to0 small to fully go wild) but his spirit is infectious. Another Rocketeria Jam sometime?
  17. Somebody actually got my Michael Scott (The Office) reference?! It's amazing how many people don't get it when I post it in "what should I do in NYC?" threads, some folks get borderline violent. Check out The Lakeside Lounge on Avenue B. It's owned by Eric Roscoe Amble, fun place.
  18. You could stand outside The Today Show with a homemade sign, those folks sure look like they are having fun. Be sure to get a slice of REAL NYC pizza. I heard there's this place called Sbarro that's the real deal.
  19. I'm so sad I never got to see these guys live before they split up. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...fe-cc50930af92b
  20. It's a factory where folks (for the most part) do factory work, the same task over and over and over all damn day. They get started on body sanding because it's a job where they can do the least amount of harm to the guitar ( less man hours in it at that stage) and/or themselves. One PRS old timer is a good of a friend of a relative and gave us a no bullshit tour a few months ago. He was saying that most of the time when they did hire folks with luthiery backgrounds they didn't last long, know it alls, couldn't deal with factory work, etc. He said the usual Eastern Shore yahoos were the best employees.
  21. 1992ish and beyond is not nitrocellulose, before that yes.
  22. Looks absosmurfly killer, SEM California Gold on the maple?
  23. Jeeze, how could forget The Supersuckers? They sure don't suck.
