  1. Izzat some sort of humbucking P-90 with the offset polepieces? Asking 'cause I don't know.
  2. Interesting! Found this: So that's on OG Japanese-built unit. The schematic is available if anyone is up for a build: Ibanez TK999 Schematic US
  3. Something about the silver and the humbuckers really looks incredible to me. $2,000 plus $150 Shipping. Not ridiculous, IMO. Pretty pristine. 2001 Hamer USA Artist Semi-Hollow Guitar Silver Sparkle w/ Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1, Case | Reverb Needless to say, no affiliation. If I were affiliated it wouldn't be listed as I wouldn't be selling it. Ignore the "one piece mahogany neck."
  4. Sherwood green partscaster next to the Stretchocaster-in-process. ...though the color in that photo doesn't look very green. Here it is in its former configuration - the in-person color is much closer to this: ETA: here is the body in the middle of spraying the color coats. I really like the Oxford Guitar Sherwood green
  5. Watching this thread and DSM Humboldt Simplifier videos with intense interest as I've started using the Tech 21 Screaming Blonde direct to FOH. I get all excited about these more versatile boxes and think I need to buy, but then I crank up the (remember, $99, thanks to the HFC heads-up!) Screaming Blonde and have to ask myself, will it be that much better?
  6. Hey! I resemble that remark (and pronounced Kaman the same way)!
  7. This looks as expected. Anomalous out-of-phase pickup? If it were me, I'd just reverse the two wires (with, of course, the added length you posted about previously).
  8. IMO, the pinnacle of floating trem work is Vai's 1984 "The Attitude Song." Sure, it's impressive... and then you dig in and find out every dive-bombing, screeching harmony guitar was recorded individually with overdubs - no harmonizers used. Boggles the mind.
  9. And to think how put out we get when we see a vintage Hamer that's been 'de-Kahlered.' 🤣
  10. It is absolutely beautiful (and Sustain Block, as well!), but I should have been more specific: if you're asking questions about wiring, it is often helpful to have a photo(s) of the inside of the control cavity. Yes, the old Specials were wired out of phase a-la Peter Green. I am unaware of any others (and don't recall other examples mentioned in THE BOOK), but I am aware of examples of all makes and models (including original Bursts) escaping with out of phase wiring or magnets. That really is a fantastic looking TLE. Congratulations!
  11. I certainly have no idea, but I am certain those who do would love to see a photo or ten. 😉
  12. Wait? MIT Tom Scholz couldn't find anyone to fix an analog recorder? He's Tom Scholz - the engineer that created an entire sound out of whole cloth. We're to believe he couldn't fix it himself (much less find someone to do the work)? 🤣
  13. Seriously, $150 was the price I anticipated when I clicked the link. I don't recall seeing one for less than that in a really long time. Whether that is a good price or not is up to the buyer (I've never even considered buying one). That one is not in terrible shape relatively speaking.
  14. Thanks so much for that! "Cramming" is a good word for how I'm trying to get the 215s to fit - not terribly comfortable. I'll try those tips.
  15. That's a cool site. Been over 40 years since I had organic chemistry, but it's interesting nonetheless. Further down it describes the different Nylons and I recall some discussion, maybe from @murkat about which of these was in the vintage Gibsons. Thanks for posting that. A great swath of weeds!
  16. Second perfect guitar in as many weeks. Bad time for the guitar account to be so desperately low... Vintage Carve and crowns... grrrrrrrrr!
  17. I've been telling you...
  18. Not even kidding: I read your post and as soon as I read that sentence, instantly in my mind I hear Richard Pryor's voice. It was from an album a buddy had snuck out of his parent's collection, "I was born in Peoria, Illinois." and then someone in the crowd yells, "What's that?!" and then Pryor shuts him up really quickly (I won't continue quoting because of Pryor's use of a word that is no longer used, but he berates the guy as being a bumpkin... in a manner of speaking). Hysterical! This has been a "why is that still stuck in Jeff's head after fifty years?" moment. Back to your normal programming.
  19. Not to get in the weeds... okay, yep, I'm in the weeds: is the nylon available today the same nylon? Or was the original nylon discontinued because of some conspiracy (and by conspiracy, I do not mean 'found by the State of California to be a carcinogen,' i.e., the subset otherwise known as "matter.")? And I ask absolutely not due to tone, or, excuse me, TONE, concerns but strictly for functional concerns.
  20. This video came out around the time I was changing strings on my Lester (couple of years ago). I tried it and have been doing it this way ever since. I have plenty of break angle at the nut and the tuning is much more stable.
  21. By "above," do you mean the linked Amazon IEMs? I should have done more research as I went with the recommended Shure 215s at around twice that price - am I getting twice the performance? Ah, not likely, but that was what was recommended based on price/performance. This is my first experience with IEMs (required because we're playing with a click and cues). I just need something that can get louder than the tinnitus! The Shures have been fine, just spendy.
