  1. Amazon.com: Play Guitar and Ignore Old Man Problems T-Shirt : Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry
  2. My '81 Special had the plate: The '82 Crusebass (pics) did not, nor did my '82 Phantom. Maybe they occasionally ran out? If any of the three had been monkeyed with I'd say it was the '81 Special. Note the Alpha pots (replaced with later Hamer pots from @BCR Greg). The Phantom was pristine.
  3. Another couple I found:
  4. Imgur is broken this afternoon, so here's a direct upload of my (formerly) '82. IIRC, untouched wiring, but like yours there was a pickup magnet issue.
  5. There's a pickguard?
  6. The (1973) OEM Fender singles, then DiMarzio singles around P/G - that's also when the Bill Lawrence L500L replaced the Gibson humbucker.
  7. 4210? I didn't have a clue (Marshall model numbers always confuse me because so many of them look like years), so I went looking: Ah, a 2205 in combo form. What? Excellent! GLWTS!
  8. This thread has proven far more interesting than promised by the original question!
  9. I found one loaded with the Mesa Black Shadow (Celestion C90, according to Mesa) speaker - izat okay? I thought these were engineered specifically for an EV12ML? Do people regularly swap other speakers sound like in the Thiele? I have a couple of spares around (a barely used Celestion Blue and a never used Warehouse ET of some sort).
  10. I stand corrected. Maybe he was addressing that particular model/era (it was a '96 Special FM). Or maybe I hallucinated the entire conversation. Or maybe it's just another symptom of breaching 60 years old. I retract my earlier statement. As you were. ETA: went searching for the conversation in Messages and then in the entire forum (used: "brazilian rosewood" site:hamerfanclub.com). Didn't come up with the conversation, but I did come up with a dozen or so real examples of Hamers with Brazilian rosewood boards. Sorry. 🤡
  11. No idea about cabinets, but I've heard good remarks about these. Looking for a 1X12 that would serve a wide variety of situations. https://reverb.com/item/85519353-bogner-112cp-closed-back-dual-ported-1x12-guitar-speaker-cabinet-2010s-black This particular example is about $150 too high (plus shipping), but is this the model I'm looking for? If not, what? but is this the model I'm looking for?
  12. I was told many years ago by Kim Keller there that no Hamers shipped with Brazilian Rosewood. I was concerned at the time because I was shipping a Hamer to Germany after the Brazilian export prohibition. Please, someone, feel free to correct me, but that is my recollection.
  13. Believe me, unless it's an emergency (and frankly, it typically is...), I'd rather do anything than touch a computer. Every time something pops up I am reminded of the second "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movie, "Rodrick Rules" wherein the older brother, Rodrick, expresses one of the most incredible rules for life ever presented: "Never be good at anything you don't want to do." Let that sink in for a minute. Should I ever change jobs (unlikely), when questioned, "how are you with computers?" rather than expressing any proficiency whatsoever the correct answer will now be, "eh, I can turn one on and off if I have to."
  14. Absolutely not; no more than "spherical" provides useful information to compare Earth to Jupiter. I find such descriptions useful only if the actual measurements accompany them. An Ibanez Wizard neck is (IIRC, it's been a LONG time...) "D" shaped, but they're less than 0.80" thick at the first fret. My 80's Hamer Phantom had a D-shaped neck that measured 0.88" - they'd feel nothing alike, but are both accurately described as "D" necks. To my complete and utter frustration. So much so that I have saved sellers that do disclose neck measurements (there are a few on Reverb: Music Zoo, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, Guitar Chimp and our own @currypowder (Derby City Gear on Reverb) just off the top of my head). If I pull up an ad and don't see neck measurements and weight, I move on to the next ad, regardless. [/rant]
  15. Here's a Reverb Search you can save in case one pops up over there: Di Marzio Humbucker | Reverb (it's filtered to 1970's manufacture). Those have gotten really expensive. The last one I bought (double cream) I paid $60 for, maybe ten to fifteen years ago - none, functional, for less than double that and none of the zebra variety.
  16. Na, "Judith Pwiesteth"
  17. Did NOT expect that voice from that person! 🙂 Definitely Halfordesque. I dig it and Courtney Cox is aces in everything I've ever seen her in.
  18. '79: The owner of the local music store I've posted about has his late brother's Anni Strat. It's of the lighter variety. Those are hit and miss. His brother was a local phenom and played in a college bar's house band for probably ten years. The guitar is incredibly resonant. '74: I was in Music Emporium (Louisville) in the mid '90's and they had a wall full of '74 hardtails identical to that one. I would love to know the production numbers on those. There had to be a half dozen or more. I'd say (opine) it's still there because of the $5,000 price tag. Consider what other guitars can be had at that price (or even half that price).
  19. This worked at least once: Reset Forgotten Windows 11/10 password in 3 minutes Don't forget the last step! Let me know if that does not work and I'll see if I can find what worked when that method did not work (I think the failure was due to the lost account not being administrator level).
  20. If it's 10, I have a back door. Let me see if I can find the PDF and I'll message it to you. Just a minnit. ETA: Sorry, I had to get in my cloud drive and look in the backup of an old computer. I didn't realize how old it was - the instructions are for how to get into a back door on Windows XP(!). I know there is a back door into 8 and 10 because I've done it (more than once). Let me have a look around. It had something to do with entering a boot menu at startup (pressing F8, maybe, multiple times?) and then walking through a Restore menu. I'll keep looking.
  21. ^^ OS is key! Do you need anything that's on it now? If not, your options are greater.
  22. Farmer carries fix a number of ills, but 10-pound-plus guitars are still the worst! Among the heaviest I can remember were my first Strat, an S9 (79-ish), northern ash that weighed more than 10 pounds and a Peavey T-40 I borrowed to do a bass gig around 1986 - don't know, maybe 13 pounds? The '19 COVID purchase Les Paul is 9.4 lbs. and is the heaviest guitar I own now (heavier than my exactly 9 lbs. P-Bass), but a really great padded Levy's Leather strap makes it seem lighter than it is. The Kiz' Senior was pretty heavy for a Special at 8.6 lbs. The sound made it worth it though.
  23. Goes without saying! 🤣
