kizanski Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) Yes, THAT GMP Roxie! TL;DR: I bought it during a Covid-inspired boredom and since sold almost all of my guitars and "retired" from playing. The guitar went from Atlanta to Pennsylvania for mods, to @Stikeland to make it sparkly and fabulous, and finally here to New Jersey for wiring and setup. Now it's in its case, not being played, as I had predicted. Plenty of pix in the above thread link, but here are a few more: $1,600, shipped (with PayPal F&F, please). P-90s and a tune-o-matic (and at least one Bigsby over the years) gave way to DiMarzio PAF Pros and TonePros wrapper. The "Made In San Dimas, CA" bit could not be saved, for obvious reasons, but the serial is still there for whatever that's worth. Edited November 19, 2024 by kizanski 5 Quote
kizanski Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) Crappy flat frets made way to jumbos. Beautiful creme binding replaces pointless faux binding. The sparkle headstock wasn't working for me. Edited November 19, 2024 by kizanski 4 Quote

polara Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Awww, that turned out great! That guitar had so much potential. I just was not up to tackling a major project then, but you did a great job. It's wired normally? When I got it, even the wiring was jacked, with two volumes and no tone. 1 1 Quote

kizanski Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 So, I sold it yesterday morning, packed it up, shipped it out and it arrived this morning (NJ to Massachusetts). Despite my "bullet proof packing" (the buyer's words), it arrived with the toggle switch tip broken off. How did they do this? It was double-boxed, reinforced corners, Styrofoam, bubble wrap... It was arguable my best packing job ever. The guitar was snug in the case. The package was in Fed-Ex's hands for about 12 hours. Did they TRY to break it?? 1 1 Quote
velorush Posted January 13 Posted January 13 The only plausible explanation I can conceive is they undid all your tape, opened both boxes, then the case, then grabbed the switch tip with a pair of channel locks, twisted the switch tip off then reassembled the entire package. Where did the black wood screw come from? Was there any damage to the finish with all that rolling around? Quote

That's a screw from the back plate for the toggle. What it's doing there I have no idea. No finish damage, thank Christ. The buyer said $70 to have it repaired and we're square. I'm ok with that. 1 1 Quote
