I love the look, but my next purchase will be a black Hamer Standard, preferably from the 2K’s.

After compulsively buying two guitars from Paolo Salcuni, I realized that it’s not worth the money if what one wants it’s a Hamer and nothing else.

As one who has also commissioned some guitars to approximate or equal a Hamer (but with a few, minor Diablo-centric variations) I can confidently state that if ya want a Hamer, nothing else will do. Not slagging other builders, ( Shishkov, HEL, Attila, Addict Guitars, etc) just saying if what you want is the genuine feel and mojo of a Hamer, you're better off waiting to land the real deal.

These are absolute fabulous guitars!.. in fact, I like mine way more over my 4-digit Standard... nice beefy neck and those Maxon U-2000 pickups are the perfect balance of PAF tone and a nice crunch when turned to 11... I can't speak highly enough about these guitars... I'd love to find a "affordable" white one, but I think those days are gone 🖖🏻👽

I keep having this reccurring dream that I walk into an old mom and pops pawnshop with one hanging on the wall for $500 🤣

I've had a few Greco EX models from 78-82 pass through my hands and they've all been excellent. The one I miss is the black B&C model like in the OP. So I always keep my eyes out for one that isn't priced sky high. I'm not saying they aren't worth the prices I'm seeing, only that I'm a cheap bastard, a trait I'm sure many here can relate.

This '78 model popped up today FS in Japan, so I pulled the trigger. Looks pretty clean in the pics, especially for a 47 year old guitar. Knobs have been changed, but that's an easy fix. Just hoping it has a decent sized neck.

I bought the 78 flametop Greco Explorer that was at Dave's in the Winter late Fall. It was listed here on HFC, it was "sold" and then it came back probably due to the frets and the second time it popped up I couldn't resist.

I had it re-fretted, swapped out the pickups (they were not Maxon's) and it's a MONSTER of a guitar. Not my favorite "look," but the guitar was crazy clean and the price was kind of ridiculous. Lightweight, rings/sustains, plays and feels great, get your Live at Budokan on already!

Love story short, these are bad ass axes, grab em up while you can!

Well, I just mean that a GAS attack for a Hamer cannot be treated by buying something else, no matter how good or how similar to a Hamer that “something else” might be. 🤷🏻‍♂️
