Yep - going to the solid-state dark side. Well, actually the light side, as they weigh like 20 lbs and my old back loves that idea. Plus all the reviews say it sounds so close to the real thing that the bar flies won't give a sh!t. Win-win.

They're drunk anyway. They wouldn't know a tube amp from a fluorescent lamp.

Truth.

Although a loud fluorescent lamp is a bad thing.

How about a postage stamp?

Sleepaway camp?

Exit ramp?

Common tramp?

ok, I'm out.

Let us know how it works out. The weight is appealing. How close to the real thing and how it handles pedals are most interesting to me.

A buddy of mine has gone through a TM DR and a TM Bassman.  He has returned to the TM DR and believes it sounds as good as a real DR.

I’m not buying the BS that is sounds exactly the same. Tim, buy yourself a good amp and quick dicking with two bit amps. Super champs and all the mods, tubeless DR’s.  🤮  Man up.

Buy a hand truck from amazon, hell I’ll buy you one.

1,000%.. I had a drri that I bought new from sweetwater, it was an unremittent piece of crap, I did everything I could to improve that amp and there was nothing doing, but in hindsight if I just looked at that 15 cent circuit board that would have made it all clear

A super portable Fender amp that sounds really good is a quilter super block us, there are four electrolytic capacitors on the board, change those for audio note and it is unbelievable

The real problem with tube amps is inconsistency - one day they sound amazing, the next meh. They are finicky and don't like being manhandled. The 'sweet spot' is typically louder than I need to be 90% of the time, especially in Madison Square Basement. And tubes, that need replacing more often than I like to do it, have gotten stupid expensive.

This solid state crap repeats every time - hot, cold, humid - it doesn't matter, it's going to sound the same every time you plug into it. Even after bouncing around in the back of a truck you can plug in and not worry about tubes rattling loose or worse, getting broken. The light weight is a huge plus. My SuperChamp (in an aftermarket 1x12 combo cab) is 35 pounds. The DRTM is 20.

Will I be selling off my old Fender stuff? Nope. I've tried plenty of other brands and always go back to Fender. And I've used other other SS amps that sound great (Roland Cube 60, Boss Katana 50), but they always include the kitchen sink, which I don't really want or need.

The Tone Masters seem to have nailed 99% of the real deal vibe without a bunch extra stuff - or tubes - and that's a pretty huge part of the appeal. YMMV.

From the guy who changes tube amps more than I change underwear.

My SuperChamp has been to every gig without issue or complaint since 2012. Still sounds great! 💪

Sounds like a reasonable way to go.

FWIW, I have more recently gone towards board mounted tube powered preamps.....Select your favorite flavor.....Tone King, Friedman, Effectrode....and use a board mounted power amp (stereo?) and a lighter shop built cab and it meets my needs for tone and volume. Carry in and out in one easy trip. I especially like the Thermion Zero power amp, which includes a bypassable "DR" preamp and reverb......YMMV.

But I have also done the SuperChamp thing (upgraded speaker and my fave drive pedal). Never failed me.

I have both the Tone Master Twin and Deluxe Reverb.  Both in the blonde version with Neo Creambacks.

The Deluxe sounds just as expected, starts to break up with volume at 3.5 to 4 as expected, responds as to playing dynamics as it should.  The Creambacks smooth out the tone nicely.  Latest update "clips" the bright cap.  The attenuator control works as expected.

The Twin is big, loud and clean - Just what you want from a Twin.  All the advantages of the TM Deluxe are also there in the Twin.  I'm impressed.  You'll like either one.

I have a hard time believing the 23 pounds claimed weight, that is really light, another source says 31 pounds, that is more believable. My Univox U45B is 22 pounds, with a vintage Jensen tiny magnet 12" speaker.  I'll have to drag the Tech21 T-60 out from the corner and try it again, I wonder how that would compare to the 'new' stuff?

The Pine box and the smaller Neodymium magnets on the speakers make a big difference on the weight.  The Deluxe is truly featherweight compared to the OG...

Key reasons why I tend to use pine on my shop built cabs (not to mention tone) and like such as the Copperback Neo speaker. The latter (12") handles 250 watts and weighs about 5 lbs, vs something closer to 20 for the 200 watt EVM-12L.

Dave's had one side-by-side with the real thing and it was laughable how much lighter the TM was. Honestly a featherweight.

I forgot about the Trademark 60......had one years ago......

Our singer went from a 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb to a TM DR. I have to say from my side of the stage, it sounds great. Plenty of stage volume on tap. Sounds a lot like her old amp. And it really is 23lbs.

Did she snag the one off CL while I snoozed and losed?
