Ya, I know what the top's made of. I just thought that this was the guitar being referenced.

It is Dave, and my bad for somehow thinking it was black limba. Cool as hell axe though.

I think it's sort of like the mole on Cindy Crawford.

I would not have Cindy Crawford because of the mole. Nope, she has no chance of getting me.

it looks like a worm track. I wouldn't be concerned about it, adds character. There is no absolutely 100% perfect piece of wood, especially if you want a pretty one.

That top is spalted maple and not black limba.

True, but he actually dissed both. I believe "pallet wood" was the term he used.

"basically rotting wood" I believe is what I heard. Not that it matters. I don't care for the stuff, but if somebody does, then they can have a guitar made that way.

Gabe, gimme a break.

If he WAS my customer, I WOULD say that to him.  Really.  These are guitars, not crystal.

Really.

I'll take that guitar if he doesn't want it.

OK Uncle Greg. I believe you when you say you would do that. At first I thought you were joking.

Thanks for responding.

You are to be trusted, I've said so before on this board.

It looks pretty minor.........I'd probably like it better that way.

+1

it's probably mother nature at it's best, gives the guitar some character

mine has some flaws in it but then again redwood has that problem.. worm holes and such... minor cosmetics dont make the guitar play worse.... but then again some people are looking for museum pieces... own the guitar.. play the guitar hehe.. like greg said .. ill take it if ya dont want it.... i should go get #1 to go with the prototype...

Problem solved :

He got the choice between a 10% discount or a refund.

He kept the guitar....

I know someone will correct me if I am incorrect, but I believe its a mineral deposit in the wood.

Various woods react to elements and Korina, Redwoods and etc. "display" mineral deposits versus them being absorbed completely in the wood.

Someone mentioned Cindy Crawford, think of any woman with a beauty mark. It justs adds character.

Some of the best guitars looked like they were ran over by a car and dragged a quarter mile.

And with some companies you'd have to pay extra for that too.

WHAAAAA - a black mark! You know what, unless it's a $20k + instrument, don't expect "flawless perfection" in a natural product. That's baby bullshit and he shouldn't take the discount. Truth be told, I'd take maple over that redwood crap any day of the week.

On top of that, what happens when your friend bangs it into an amp and gets a ding? Will that kill his enjoyment of the instrument? I think most people worry too much about shit that doesn't matter. ;)

She lost me forever when she went with Richard Gere. I'm done with her now. No matter how much she begs. She'll never see the inside of my trailer again.

Is this Rachel? Rachel Hunter? Good news! I've got room for you now! Come on down!

Finally a pic of the whole body :

As written before he's the dealer for Hamer for Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg.

He ordered the guitar especially as a show-off guitar for potential clients (shops).

So he hoped it would be perfect. Now he ordered a new Studio (with AAA top) for that purpose.

"Perfect"?

I think that's as close to perfection as you're going to find, as long as Hamer continues to make their guitars out of organic materials such as wood. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the craftsmanship was perfect, however.

Not to beat a dead horse, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that guitar.

I don't know if this is allowed : He's selling it now.

Might be interesting for Euro HFC members, as it's probably the only redwood studio in Europe. You can find his coördinates on the dealer page:BMD Benelux
