stevemec Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Just submitted the serial# of the '78 Sunburst w/Dan Armstrong head. #8-0372.Looks like the Danny is the real(and rare!) deal. stevemec
belgian Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 very cool looking headstocks...maybe someday:( Same overhere
Andrew Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Show us a photo. Its brothers would like to see it! There are just three of those from the seventies. Andrew.
kizanski Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 tick...tick...tick...Go the distance....Ease his pain....ebaY auction. Could it possibly run its course?
BCR Greg Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Well, I have gotten several emails asking what I want for the guitar. It's not mine. One of my pictures has been used for the auction without asking me.I do not have the guitar.
Andrew Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Unless asked otherwise, I am reporting the listing to eBay for using a photo of my guitars. It is really unethical to use photos without permission in an auction like this.Andrew.
mc2 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Very odd that the seller would post all week here trolling for info on this axe...and then post all the info and pics he got from here on Ebay to sell the guitar BEFORE he even had a photo of the actual guitar that's for sale? Hmmmmmm. Maybe it's the new trend to prevent the guys in China from hijacking his Ebay listing and relisting a bogus one...even THEY probably can't figure the listing out
sw686blue Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Also interesting that it's listed under "Other Electrcs" and not under "Hamer".
Sitamoia50 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I work right next door to the place he brought it to get set up. I was on lunch I walked in and the guitar was sittin' on the counter (he was going over it with the guitar tech). I walked over and of course I'm in the middle of my Hamer obsession I looked at It and of course proceeded to flip out over it! Im the one who initially told the guy the year ('78) and a few other Hamer facts (all learned here of course). From what I gather, I dont think he means anybody any harm. He's obviously new to ebay (pics without permission, not listed under Hamer section etc). He was given the guitar and upon realizing what he had wants to pretty much "take the money and run". It's definately cool and also definately has its share of finish checking. I offered him $600 (LOL!) Guess he's lookin' for a bit more......Couldnt help to think though that the guy upstairs was havin fun with me that day. I just happened to be in a Hamer obsession, and I just happen to walk in the store during the 10/15 minutes he was in there. Like someone was sayin look how close you came to a true rare collectable Hamer. I just fail to find the humor in it all though.......
peedenmark7 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 from the ebay pics the strings look very high off the fingerboard...kinda wondering how it was just set up?way cool piece checking or no checking......!

You should have told him it was a cheap import with the totally wrong headstock to be of any value. And you should by courtesy have offered to buy it for 350, or trade an old beat up, but genuine Hamer P90 Special for it + 100 cash (for you that is). Now suit yourself for telling him the truth about that guitar. You had it within your reach
Sitamoia50 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Somebody gave it to him...? Yep. It was given to him.

He said "jeez, you should have played it down, like it was no big deal and then offered him some money instead of flippin' out". Guess I'm just an excitable boy! He ended up doin' his homework on it tho hence the few posts here to gather as much info and pics as he can then when "Hamerheads" were in a frenzy over it he lists it. Course dont think the thought didnt occur to me to go next door, slip in the back and out the front (hamer/dan armstrong in tow of course)..........Damn! so close yet so far away!!!!!!
stevemec Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 Duh! Hey guys, I'm still sittin' right here. (I can HEAR you!)
mc2 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Duh! Hey guys, I'm still sittin' right here. (I can HEAR you!) Dude....wait'l they start talkin' about your mom
stevemec Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 No problem. My mom would probably do the same thing with it. Seriously, though, you guys kind of made some assumptions/presumptions about me. Did I ever say that I was actually going to sell the fucking guitar? I just thought that some like-minded, music-loving, fine-guitar worshipping dudes like yourselves might give a fan club member an honest opinion and MAYBE kind of feel happy for the guy for owning it.
polara Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I think people were gettin' a little bugged that your auction used pics of their guitars and not yours, and didn't ask them permission first. Added to the rarity of the guitar and your newness to the board (we all were new at one time of course), it was a good recipe for some wild speculation and curiosity. You'll get a nice chunk of change for that fine instrument... think you'll invest in a less rare Hamer and hang out with us more?
acb Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 we don't give a crap about you (nothing personal of course) it's all about the stupid guitar with the odd headstock. give it up peacefully or... only kidding. file it all under the rites of passage at the HFC. we're an odd group of hamer lovin' dudes... we thought you might be one of us
stevemec Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 Hey,Sitamoia50, You wouldn't really have?............Nah!
princeofdarkness56 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 It's a beautiful guitar. Hope you get big $$$$ for it. If you like guitars, this forum is the place to be.
princeofdarkness56 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I see you are in Worcester MA. I am in Easthampton MA. If you come across any other rare or strange looking guitars, I have my check already made out for $350 to save you the hassle of all this running around.
