Feynman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Went back and read through some of the old, old posts here and caught these references several times. Can someone catch me up, or is it reserved for the legacies only?I think I got the 'Thread from Hell' stuff, but I can't see enough history to decipher the others.Feel free to tell me to buzz off.
Rechts Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Oh man, here we go down memory lane.....See if you can get an explanation about the poptarts, too, lol
cmatthes Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 No matter how hard I try to drink them away, those memories keep coming back...again and again.
MCChris Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The three you mention can all be attributed to one member who's since been banned."Flawless technique" is what he claimed to have; his self-produced instructional video indicated otherwise."Half a $20" was his recommendation about how to deal with a soundman: tear a $20 bill in two and give one half to him before the gig and the other half to him afterward, provided he performed his duties to your satisfaction. Never really mentioned the possibility that the sound guy wouldn't want the other half, thus resulting in YOU being out $20."Sharkfin" is the type of pick this guy told an LA studio cat he could use to simulate the sound of a 12-string guitar on a session.

That helps a lot. All one guy, huh? Sorry to have missed him.So how about those Pop Tarts?
silentman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Ah, memories. We don't have 10% of the on-board drama we used to. Even the outer circle is tame. This place has turned into a geriatrics home.
Jeff R Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Speaking of HFC'isms, I recently was at my local shop and one of the old timers who frequents the place was building a dulcimer from scratch and needed to borrow some fret files. When he told a group of us this was his first time to build one and he was really worried about his fret placement/measurements, I fired back at him without a flinch "aaahh, intonation is for pussies." The showroom erupted in howling laughter and one guy shot a Coke through his nose. The HFC is priceless in my book.

Jeff R Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 No kidding, Lou ... We haven't had a meltdown or a Waterloo in a while, and I think my HFC towel got somehow mixed in with the car-washing rags.I wish Hamer would announce a factory open house - that stirs the shit up good like clockwork.
Rechts Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 April Fools Day comes in less than a week....that was always a nutbuster on here
MCChris Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I wish Hamer would announce a factory open house - that stirs the shit up good like clockwork.A thread asking if there's gonna be one this year achieves the same effect.
BTMN Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Like watching Mullet jump on the Intercoastal, you only hear the splish splash usually but occasionally you actually see the jump. A thing of Beauty.
serial Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I think most of us just prefer to take the high road these days... The photoshopping sure ain't what it used to be! I still have recurring pains from time to time from the injuries to my side from cracking up at some of the posts here.
tafkathundernotes Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Let's not forget this little guy...... Aww, you beat me to it! Same cosmic wavelength though!
Rechts Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 heh heh Pancake Bunny used to be the unofficial mascot of the HFC....has it been 10 years?
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Sorry bro...but none of that compares to your pic of Kiz, Greg, and I in the reflection of that chrome strat. When I saw it for the first time, I literally fell right off my chair laughing. When I showed it to Denise, she had tears in her eyes she was laughing so hard. That was by far the best photoshop I have ever seen.Anyone still have that? I could use a good laugh today.

It was like lighting a fuse to the thread. The banned member's posts on other forums has also gotten him banned from TheGearPage and Ferrarichat.com.
mathman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Well I have a hamer XT prodigy promotype made with All-American Parts, not just american but ALL-american parts that I think is plays and sounds better than any vintage guitar thrown together by some used out of work furniture builder in the late 1950's.Said as he runs out the door.....
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The banned member's posts on other forums has also gotten him banned from TheGearPage and Ferrarichat.com.To quote the most esteemed MCChris "How much of an asshole does someone have to be to get banned from a place that doesn't serve alcohol?" ROTFLMAO!!!!
silentman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I wish Hamer would announce a factory open house - that stirs the shit up good like clockwork.A thread asking if there's gonna be one this year achieves the same effect.Or ponder why the OFC has a tour and the HFC don't.
Rechts Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Here you go, Rob: I think the other messageboard has the infamous Spidey/Tonejunkee duel in it's entirety. It's too bad this messageboard has changed formats/software/servers so many times, we can't go back to 1997, when Billy Wong roamed the nether regions of the startup HFC, like some retarded Jesse James.... I remember when we were first able to post pics on the HFC instead of just links....it took about 2 weeks for the photoshopping to get out of hand! We need an "HFC for Dummies" FAQ image repository.
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Still my all-time favorite!!!!
Rechts Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The best stuff on here always appeared in the middle of some laborious thread, like a building crescendo. There used to be so many "riffs" going on. We had some great jams.
