Looks like a Danny Ferrington guitar to me. I know he has built many for Elvis costello and that explorer that Nick Lowe is playing might even be in the Ferrington guitars book.

I don't think he is building at the same scale as he use to just ones and twos now, but I don't know. Some may remember he cut a deal with Kramer to use his designs for the acoustic/electric models back in the 80's.

I remember seeing an old Nick Lowe video in the early 80s & he had an explorer style acoustic. I always wondered what it was too.

That IS a handmade Danny Ferrington guitar. I'm pretty sure it is in the Ferrington book, but will have to check.

Danny's guitars are NOTHING like the stuff he licensed to Kramer - those are relatively crappy compared to the real thing!

I also recognized it immediately as a Ferrington and took down my book to confirm. See page 10. There's a small photo of Danny Ferrington "with first asymmetrical guitar, built for Nick Lowe, 1980". He made some incredible guitars for some amazing artists.

Mitch Easter used to play one of those Tak Flying Vee acoustics back in the mid '80s. I saw him with it a couple of times and always thought it was really out there...
