MCChris Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 IIIIIIPhysical GraffitiPresenceIVHouses of the HolyIn Through the Out DoorI got to thinking about this because I love the song selection on the Jimmy Page/Black Crowes live album, which ignores my 3 least favorite Zep releases. When I tell people what those are it freaks 'em out almost as much as my hatred of Pink Floyd. So, what say you?
serial Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Good lord, this can change depending on the day of the week, but for me, it is (as of this moment):Physical GraffittiIIHouses of the HolyIIVIIIPresence/In through the Out Door

jwhitcomb3 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 1. Physical Graffiti2. Houses of the Holy3. IV4. II5. Presence6. In Through the Out Door7. I8. IIISide 3 of Physical Graffiti is nearly perfect.I have nothing against I or III, I just never owned them as a kid so they don't have the nostalgia boost the others have!-Jonathan
Brewmaster Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 I II Then throw the rest in heap and mix'em up because I don't care for the rest. There are few good good cuts scattered throughout the rest of them but no whole album that I like. Yes, I do own the whole collection.
Rockola Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 #1 is set, the rest could shuffleHOTHPhysical GraffitiIIIIIIVIIn Through the Out DoorPresenceAlot of the songs on P-G seem too long nowadays and Kashmir has grown to become Stairway Lite.... Seaside sounds like a III reject. YMMVIII has become my darkhorse. When I was totally burned out on Zep, the folkish III was refreshing and original sounding. Re-kindled my interest in them after years of dormancy.S.
serial Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Anything released post-Bonzo is not a Zep album. I had Coda, but couldn't tell you anything much about it today. I'm starting to think that Houses of the Holy might be moving up a slot. PG is one of my all-time favorite albums.
LordOfTheThighs Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 #1: Physical Graffiti (absolutely the BEST Zep album, IMO) #2: Zep II #3: Zep IV #4: Houses #5: Zep I #6: Zep III #7: Presence #8: ITTOD #9: Coda Special Mention of TSRTS and HTWWW...I love those live albums, (CDs). It's really hard to put them in order from #2 - #6...because I take spells where I listen to each intensely. Page just has that "presence" in his playing.
elduave Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Houses Of The Holy is easily my favorite, I'd have to really think about the rest. I'll go ahead and say In Through The Out Door is second, and Presence is last.
Tres Aardvarks Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 so, maybe I'm giving away my age and my musical background when growing up, but I only ever owned III and IV. Preferred III, BTW. TG says I should buy Physical Graffiti as I know most of the songs on there (from that damned Get The Led Out on Cleveland radio).
cmatthes Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Tough to narrow down, but I'll give it a shot - put these titles on shuffle and it will still be my list. I really like 'em all for different reasons:Physical GraffitiII / HousesIVIIn Through the Out DoorIIIPresence and CODA don't even make my list of top Zep albums.I REALLY REALLY want to cover "Hot Dog".

Turdus Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Same as Markvector82, but throw HOTH before III, and the order is perfect.C'mon! "For Your Life" could be the best "Zep" song ever!Oh yeah.. throw IV on the bottom of the list.
HamerHokie Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 IVPhysical GraffittiIIIHouses of the HolyPresenceIIICodaIn Through the Out DoorI think IV is the perfect Led Zep album. Had PG been this solid all the way through it would have topped IV, but PG had some filler.
