kizanski Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Here we have a '97 Korina Vector. The last of the original run of 72. All original, except for the tort 'guard and jack ring (the original black pieces are included) and Schaller strap locks. Serial Steve can provide more info, but as I understand it, this is one of the very last guitars to leave the Arlington Heights factory. It's super light weight, has "the Big Neck," and is in excellent+ condition (as is the OHSC). Comes with the COA signed by Jol, stating that it is #72/72. The gold V plate is slightly tarnished, but I've yet to see one that wasn't. The rest of the gold hardware is very clean. The stock Duncan '59s actually sound great, too - lol! The frets are damned near like new. I've owned a few Korina Vectors, and have played a good many more. This one is up there with the best if not The Best. But hey, what would you expect me to say (and when was the last time you played an ordinary Korina Vector)? Others have played this guitar. I'll let THEM speak of its greatness. Until then, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves... Shown above (front and center) with included original black 'guard and jack ring. $2400. Shipping, insurance, and PayPal included to the lower 48.
BCR Greg Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I had the guitar made for me, and swore that I'd never sell it. Well, I did. It is, without a doubt, the best of the dozens of Korina Hamer Vectors that I have owned or played. Period. Kiz offered it back to me but i just blew all of my guitar money. THE BEST HAMER KORINA VECTOR EVER.
DavidE Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Ho hum. How good can it be if it's only 1/2 the price of a Gibson for sale on another board?Oh yeah, twice as good for 1/2 the price.
sw686blue Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Do you ship to Canada and can you declare a much lower value for customs?
Guest pirateflynn Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Wow, I'm surprised you're selling that one. Gorgeous!
cmatthes Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I've played that one. It IS a special guitar. If I didn't have a Vector being worked on right now and had the extra $$, I'd jump all over that one. I've said it once or twice before, but damn, Kiz - you're a fool for selling that!
zorrow Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Do you ship to Canada and can you declare a much lower value for customs? I guess I'll be jealous as hell, but I give you the right to make me jealous.
kizanski Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 God. I want to bathe in it.You know what I want, Brandon...
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I'll trade you a Robin Revival (containing a check for $250) and an IOU (good as money) for it.ORA Robin Revival (containing a check for $250) and a promissory note for November. ROTFLMAO!!
formula73 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 God. I want to bathe in it.You know what I want, Brandon...Everyone's after me Lucky Charms.Dammit.
mirrorimij Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Does it have a JB/59 combo or Seth Lovers? IIRC, the last of them were shipped with Seth's because we they were out of stock of JB/59's.Mine is one of the last 10 guitars to leave Arlington Heights. I will never sell it. Good luck with the sale.

harryjmic Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Didn't this sell on Ebay a couple months ago for $1800? Just curious, there was one just like it with a tortise shell guard. I love the idea of having a Korina Hamer collection, I have Jr. but need others...anyone have any extra $ laying around?
serial Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 This one was never on eBay that I'm aware of. There have been a couple that passed through BCR that got the tort treatment. Don't know about the pickups on that one, but I've heard from at least three guys who worked at the factory (even a couple who lost their jobs when the company moved) that even though the shop was closing, etc., the Korina Vectors, particularly the ones done toward the end, were really given a lot of special attention. Bob can chime in or correct me, but there was apparently a real sense of pride with those guitars from what I've been told. That certainly makes sense with #72-that's a really great one. I remember when it came into Greg's old shop-convinced me that I needed one.
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Didn't this sell on Ebay a couple months ago for $1800?No. Kiz bought this from Greg a while back and has had it ever since. I have played this one, and it is bad assed.
BubbaVO Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 When I read a thread like this I'm reminded that with all that I've learned from hanging out here in the last year or so, guys like Serial, Kiz and other members of this motley crew have forgotten more than I've picked up.
DavidE Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Didn't this sell on Ebay a couple months ago for $1800? Just curious, there was one just like it with a tortise shell guard. I love the idea of having a Korina Hamer collection, I have Jr. but need others...anyone have any extra $ laying around? The ones that sell in that range, like the one I sold below, aren't from the limited run of 72, they're newer Connecticut made guitars. Mine was a great guitar, but it wasn't me. If it was, I'd buy Kiz's.
BCR Greg Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 #72 has the first tort guard, I did a bunch up for customers. Eventually Hamer caught up with the idea that tort and korina go together.I'd buy this back in a second if I didn't have these goddamn doctors and therapists expecting me to buy them all cars.
kizanski Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 Didn't this sell on Ebay a couple months ago for $1800? Just curious, there was one just like it with a tortise shell guard.Nope. It's never been on ebaY. Greg was the original owner, and I bought it from him a couple of years ago.I remember when it came into Greg's old shop-convinced me that I needed one. That's what happened to me. I bought two others over time, but wanted THIS one. When it finally came up for sale, I grabbed it.When I read a thread like this I'm reminded that with all that I've learned from hanging out here in the last year or so, guys like Serial, Kiz and other members of this motley crew have forgotten more than I've picked up.That's certainly true of Serial. In my case, you're being too kind - lol. It's a great Vee, so why am I selling it?It's been out of the case 3 or 4 times since I've owned it. Sure, it's great being able to say "I have #72/72," but at the end of the day, I don't play out and it's not a guitar I'm going to reach for when I'm jerkin' around at home. I'm not into stock piling guitars just to have them anymore, either. So, I guess the answer is that I don't need the guitar any more than I need to sell it.I'm open to trades (I'd much rather have something that I'll play). You know how to reach me.
bizzwriter Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 That's one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen! It just had me looking over my collection, wondering which ones I should sell to justify buying it!
