ET_KenW Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Looking at the neck, which could be a USA neck on an import body, I see the dots are closer together at the 12th fret. Looks like Stadium logo on the headstock. Plus, weren't the imports only natural and black in color?http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-californian-Kore...1QQcmdZViewItemI am not affiliated to the seller.
anotherfreak Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Looks American 1. no import's in that color 2. cavity covers are anodized 3. body looks right I would check that the pics are for THAT auction, not just a representation. the "no returns" could be a red flag
silentman Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Don't all of the import cali's (at least the early ones) have those nasty poor excuse for boomers inlays?
ET_KenW Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 I think it also funny that the seller states that the trem has been replaced with a Hamer branded Schaller trem. I agree that the aloof, supposedly to the point, text are a little bit off.
kurtsstuff Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Pretty positive the body is USA...Right down to the Dunlop straplock buttons...The neck I'm not so sure about??
MCChris Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Pretty positive the body is USA...Right down to the Dunlop straplock buttons...The neck I'm not so sure about??I've never seen an import Cali with the natural wood stripe along the bottom of the headstock.

marcnorth Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Looks like a stadium logo. It could be hard to see the USA with the natural wood stripe on the bottom of the headstock.Ask for some pics of the headstock from the guy.
prototype-fan Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 The pics and description suck. Normally, you would expect someone to try to pawn off an import as a US model, not vice versa, so I don't understand why the seller would say that a model was made in Korea if it says "USA" in the logo. It just doesn't make sense.

kurtsstuff Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Well..stranger things have happened..I just bought a Cali and the owner did not know if it was USA or import....it's USA...
veatch Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Looks like a US model to me. Has anyone asked the seller for a pic of the headstock?
ET_KenW Posted July 11, 2008 Author Posted July 11, 2008 Looks like a US model to me. Has anyone asked the seller for a pic of the headstock?I sent a request for information. Waiting to hear back. Remember, the seller has a life so it may take up to 48 hours for a response. LOL

Imiss85 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Love the color. I had a blitz stolen from me in the early 90's that was the same color.
Armitage Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 2. cavity covers are anodizedThey look plastic to me, and maybe with the clear plastic still on them...
atquinn Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Just got a response back from the seller to my question:Hey, It might as well be USA, did not have time to see any info on it, or do a research, there was some number on a back, but it's packed now...in desperate need of $$$, so...sold the guitar to the highest just to get $$$ fast. I could probably get more, but...Horrible times... this f...n life is like a toilet paper, it seems sooo long , but you spend it on shit, doing stupid things, it's a shame... , Anyway, life's beautiful, and i do not give a sh.. that it's a lie...CHeersSo there you go...-Austin
cmatthes Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Definitely a USA Cali.Although the early import Calis had dot inlays, that isn't one of those. USA all the way. Somebody got a good deal if the seller comes through!
specialk Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Wound up going for $237.50. Yeah, I'd say someone probably got a very good deal! specialk
jon67 Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Didn't this one end early? It was way down on my watchlist with days to go and then suddenly the bidding had ended...
ET_KenW Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 I got a reply too. Sounded like a USA, so someone got a steal.Hi, There were some numbers imprinted into the wood, do not remember it's boxed now.Unfortunately I'm in disasterous situation here and sold the guitar to the highest just to get $$$ fast. I could probably get more, but...Horrible times...
atquinn Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Dang! That's a Bottomfeeder of The Year nominee. Eh. Maybe if it had Boomers, but "regular" Calis aren't worth anywhere close to what the ebony-boarded boomered ones go for. -Austin

It was definitely a score, but it's not like it was Watson for $550 or something -Austin
