Feynman Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Anyone want to part with one? Rosewood board would be most excellent, but not required.By the way, when the hell did I become a 'strat' guy?! It seems like they are all I look at anymore. Bizarre.
BubbaVO Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've got one that's ash, black, pearly pickguard, rosewood fretboard...BCR Greg is going to put in a nice trem in there, maybe a hotrail in the bridge pup and maybe a bone nut....and you can't have it.I've gone one that is a really nice navy blue, ash, pearly pickguard, maple fretboard and ... you can't have that one either.I've totally gone from a set neck guy to a bolt on guy. I don't know when this happened to me. It just hit me that I like the brighter sounding tones of a strat...or a '59 Les Paul (wait is that heresy?)
sw686blue Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I have a black one with tort shell that I can sell for real cheap!
Lockbody Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've got one that's ash, black, pearly pickguard, rosewood fretboard...BCR Greg is going to put in a nice trem in there, maybe a hotrail in the bridge pup...Try a JB jr instead of the Hotrails. The jr has most of the output of the Hotrails, but sounds much better at lower and mid-gain sounds.I've got both in two different Strats, and the jr just sounds more "stratty", I guess.
silentman Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Holy thread hijack...I can vouch for the hot rails sounding NOTHING like a strat in the bridge. I like it that way though. There aren't many white/mary kay Daytonas, mitch.
velorush Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Didn't you just sell the ultimate incarnation of Stratovarocity? Stratochism... Strategery... Addictive, aren't they? Every time I think I've finally become a humbucker-only guy, I pull my Strat out for one last play and realize that's just crazy talk. And then I realize that it doesn't have to be one or the other; I can like them both. In conclusion, the only time I'm not a Strat guy is when I'm not playing it.
e-isle rock Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Don't have a cream Daytona but I have a really nice two tone, maple boardedDaytona I'm letting go here soon. Supposed to be really nice here the next couple days so I can get some pics up.

Mine was trans - white with rosewood and an insanely figured and really beefy birdseye neck. Good luck. Z I really thought about throwing you a bone by selling this one to ya... But I would just replace it with the exact guitar. Good Luck! Thanks again Z. Now with white pearl pickguard and Dimarzios..

My blue D will be the traditional strat (I might stick a metal plate under the bridge pup for that one, though). But the black D will be for a little more options tone wise.

sw686blue Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Man, how did I miss that?!? Ok, someone cough up a Daytona for my buddy Mitch!
morningstar Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 My Daytona is at the tech's getting free of a fret out above the 12th. Whatta relief, life with no Daytona sucks.BluesBuster had a white stoptail Daytona that I sold him a few years ago. That guitar was magical in his hands (but then, he does have real talent). You never know; he might be looking to get more G & L's. Ask.morningstar
Feynman Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Well, it took a whole three days, but I found one. Thanks, all.
specialk Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Well, it took a whole three days, but I found one. Thanks, all. Cool, congrats! Maybe by the time the Daytona gets there, you'll have those Snake Oil Strings to put on it!
JohnnyB Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 By the way, when the hell did I become a 'strat' guy?! It seems like they are all I look at anymore. Bizarre. When you started pushing 40. At some point, your aging body wants a 7-lb., balanced, ergonomically designed instrument instead of the neck/shoulder nightmare that is a Les Paul. Look how Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck went from being Les Paul icons to Strat icons when they got older. I've totally gone from a set neck guy to a bolt on guy. I don't know when this happened to me. It just hit me that I like the brighter sounding tones of a strat...or a '59 Les Paul (wait is that heresy?) You're in your 50s. Your hearing is shot and you need something with an upper treble boost so you can still hear yourself play.
