IMO, the absolute coolest Hamer headstock (don't know what to call it, I 'borrowed' the image from marcnorth's avatar):

That's a "Dan Armstrong" style headstock. Billy Bremner and Nick Lowe (Rockpile) had a few made like that, and my dealer back in the 80s (Sam Moss) had a few of those done as well. The pic in Marcnorth's avatar is one of Sam's.

Killer look, but I don't think they'll do it again!

BTW - not to rain on the parade, because I'd love to see a cool HFC-related guitar, but the specs you guys are mentioning above are VERY expensive to add. If you are serious, bring a fat wallet!

I thought the Watson headstock was the same as the Studio, Artist, etc. headstock?

It's my picture (slightly out of focus, sorry), and my guitar.

Sunburst Reissue.

Well fella's i'm a big fan of the Sunburst myself so you're pulling on my heartstrings. If we lay out the options as far as the pickup arrangment, bridge and finish. We can always come down to voting on a Flattop or Archtop. But don't forget those that are going to "Pony Up" are going to have most of say on the final product.

I'm going to add the current options on the first post.

Sunburst RI! Maybe format pup change option.

Getting questions on the optional colors. I myself would like to shoot for sparkle of some sort. But color is up to you so don't get hung up on it. My thoughts are a solid or a trans with sparkle in the clear. ALA the Orange Sparkle, Silver Sparkle.

Moved from the Spec Thread in the FS Board (sorry, getting confused where to put stuff):

Hey, that headstock surely needs to wait for a CO build. I don't know anything about this process, but it would have to kick it way over on price. I hadn't considered a 5-way blade. I'll have to ponder that.

Also, is goldtop a standard color?

If we go flat top, that basically puts this in the neighborhood of a Sunburst (assuming binding) - I think the crowns would look great - but I'm still remembering that day ('94-'95-ish) when my bud at Unga Bunga Music got his first load of (carved top) Hamers in his shop - SHAPELY! I see merits to both tops. I wouldn't squawk at either. If we went flat, do we go with a veneer of curly maple just for old time's sake? I've got to get some sleep - my stream-of-(semi)consciousness typing is becoming circuitous. I'll try to edit in the AM.

Reading the posts since I put up this rambling diatribe, it seems some have moved kind of in the same direction - a Sunburst reissue. That is interesting.

That thought brings a color suggestion. I can't remember who has it (bubs_42, maybe) but I saw an old Sunburst with this finish, and it is probably my favorite:

R8 on eBay I'll try to dig up the photo of the actual Sunburst. Amber to red to really dark brown. :)

That's really close, but not the one ah, probably it. The actual photo I'm remembering was very similar to that only with more red showing in the transition, and with red it could easily be lighting / camera setting. I just finished searching this:

Sunburst Appreciation Thread (labor of love) and didn't find it, however, I did find a trans green of BadgerDave (Wow!).

Who was it that had Standards and Sunburst(s) on a coffee table as their sig pic? I think maybe it was one of those guitars. Could it have been one of PF's guitars...? :)

The issue with any reissue is that it will cost double what you can get a real one for, easily.

Darkburst

Well, that IS an issue!

Edited to post reconsideration, for clarity and overall hygene

To those that have spoke up to the original idea or a variation you have been contacted.

Keep the idea's coming guy's. As far as dealers are concerned we are far, far, far from that stage.

Can everone help me out and post a picture of Orange Sparkle, Silver Sparkle and any trans color over Mahogany, Korina, Maple. Burst or Single Color.

BTW, the party line has been no sparkle/no metal flake, metallic OK. But, with the recent winds of change, you may get a "yes" on sparkle.

That's what I'm talking about. HFC Sunburst re-issue. I'm thinking in an unusual translucent color. Maybe with a special checkerboard 12 fret marker.

Bubs,

Add Jazzburst and opaque black to the color list. :)

Also, here was my post from the WTB thread:

* Studio Custom

* Mahogany

* Triple Coil Bridge

* P90 Neck

* Prefer a 5-way blade with the single coil and P90 acting as a bucker in pos 4, but it seems everyone else wants a toggle

* Sustain block

* Crowns

* Color from a short list of standard colors (i doubt we'll come up with a single color all will love...)

I keep waffling between Basic Black to Jazzburst to Fire Engine Red... (jazzburst on hawg is killer...)

I like (love) Velorush's idea on the headstock, but i think that will hurt us in the price department...

If this ends up being in the price range of a CO, it will be a hard sell to buy it over a CO. The hope is that we get a break for getting XX ordered in the same config (color notwithstanding...)

I like the idea of a flattop, but if that's the case, i'm not sure on the crowns.

She resides in Indiana with a new owner. It hurt but once I got the 77 none of my other Sunburst got played. So they all moved on, bastards. :)

I was beginning to believe I was imagining things! It DOES exist!

Ladies and Gentlemen: THIS IS IT!

The PERFECT burst (IMHO)! I'm completely stoked! Is this another variation on Darkburst? Don't care what it's called, I call it EXACTLY RIGHT!

Please don't tell me it has a neck like a phone pole and tone like a constipated bull moose having his first bowel movement in six months!

2nd best set of Dimarzio Paf's i've laid my ears on. Neck was very close to the Mid 90's Studio necks.
