ceeb Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Bottom line is that it is Ted's guitar.Indeed. But it begs the question: why isn't it in his possession? It's certainly been implied that it's not.Prolly because he loaned it to someone?Bottom line is that it is Ted's guitar, to do with what he pleases.
MCChris Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 You've never loaned a piece of gear to a friend? I know I have.Yes, but always with a purpose in mind. Specifically, using it in a musical capacity.Bottom line is that it is Ted's guitar, to do with what he pleases.Yeah, that's been established and acknowledged. Thanks.
cmatthes Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Not that it is anybody's business, but to put it out there and cut with the BS, I have had the guitar for the last two months. Nothing has been implied one way or another. It is still Ted's guitar - it belongs to HIM, and will until we decide what we're going to do with it. It has been out of the case exactly one time since it was shipped to me, to check for shipping damage. Not exactly my thing, but it is a very cool guitar.

edgar_allan_poe Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Damn...I didn't realize this would cause a shit storm. I have never had this guitar in my possession, my post was in jest. Sorry for the confusion guys.

polara Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I always thought that guitar was dead sexy. Hope people enjoy playing it as much as I liked looking at it.

ZR Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Well, can't blame us for the enthusiasm; it's a crazy unique guitar (wasn't sure if I really meant crazy unique as in an Adam Sandler movie or "crazy, unique" ...oh well)! Guys, I think what they're saying is that it's TED's guitar to do whatever he wants with it, whenever he want to - if I'm not reading too much into their message. Seriously, IF Ted did ever feel like raising money for the board (which is very generous on his part!) could it be setup as some kind of buy-in sharing program? I'm not sure of the specifics (and there could be problems) but what if those that wanted to, bought shares of that guitar and we passed it around on a some sort of schedule. If that much shipping is a problem - which it could be - then we could set it up as a pass-along system; one HFCer hand delivering it to another. I mean just around here in GA (just assuming their participation) I could get it from Steve Haynie in SC, pass it to Jettster, then Polara, then down to JackButler etc. I'm probably missing some folks but then not everyone will even want to participate. For long distances we could drive half-way and meet up. Maybe it could be setup as a rental program, where we each pay a rental for 2 weeks/ a month? of use and agree to pass it on to the next renter. When it's gone through all the renters then, of course, I get to keep it! Then Ted could sell it outright on the board or send it on another round. Maybe it could even tie-in with a recording project where each HFCer who gets it has to record something while playing that guitar? I don't know...just kind of brain storming here! Are any of these ideas feasible? At the very least Chris, please keep that guitar safely at your house ...at least through the Navy football season!!
GusS Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 chris and serial you guys seem fail to realize that this guitar is part of HFC folklore and are doing everything in your powers to destroy that by dispelling all myths, misinformation and legend. don't ruin it guys.. don't ruin the magic. it will be a sad day if this saga ever reaches closure.. it never needs to. no more replies unless drunk or high or otherwise disoriented.. please

GusS Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 come to think of it.. all the classic shit (joe, billy wong, rechts, aNdY/pAnsY, japanese collectors, the dealer wars slash hamermuseum boyz vs bcr mafia) is almost a decade old .. srsly what are the most recent entries in hfc lingo? now everybody's all NGD and pointless t & a threads..

sw686blue Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 And you have information that this is not being used in a musical capacity? Well, if it's in Chris' possession... Sorry, I had to!
serial Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 So anyone want to venture whether there'll be a special HFC guitar this year?;P
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Well, if it's in Chris' possession...laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gifSorry, I had to!Wow...that is a good one.Chris...turn around and let me pull that knife from your back. LOL!!!
Jeff R Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Wait, this isn't one of the legendary pre-HFC-gathering meltdowns? Y'know, to get next month's CajuSota bash off to a great start?* ducking *
sw686blue Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Just an idea...If Ted wants to eventually put it up for auction, why not limit it to the folks here on the HFC? Set a starting bid ($1000, for example) and away we go. Highest bidder wins.
jisham Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 So anyone want to venture whether there'll be a special HFC guitar this year?;PLooks to me those "special guitars" are reserved for mods. Seriously: I have no personal beef in this issue one way or the other but it sure seems to create a lot of tension with some people and the fact that it's apparently just being shared between a select few only fuels the speculation. Looking in from the outside (which I'm mostly doing), it's kind of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" about this particular guitar.I think if Ted just wants to send it around to a few select people, he should have at it -- but he should also say that's the intent. My understanding (obviously proven wrong in this thread) over the years of this one floating around is that it WAS going to be given away to an HFCer. At least the air's cleared on that issue.

You know, it's not even my business really but like I wrote, this guitar has been talked about for years, many of us were under the mistaken impression it was going be given way, and the issue isn't really going to go away as evidenced by whomever started this thread. I'm happy to step out of the fray though.
atquinn Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Entitlement comes to the HFC! It's Ted's guitar, why can't he just do whatever the hell he wants with it, without keeping everyone on the HFC informed?!? Jeeze, some people need a new hobby! Also, it seems to me if he wants to use it to raise the most possible money, an auction would be the absolute worse way to do it and loaning it out to different people would possibly be even worse. A raffle would be the best way to generate bucks. But that's pretty difficult to do in a fully legal way and even though everyone might be all like "the HFC is family, etc..." all it takes is one whiney beeyotch who doesn't like the outcome to bury Ted in legal bills. -Austin

I will send it to the other mods to use, and then your guitar will be associated forever with the HFC and the Prince guitar. Your call. LOL!!!
