whatever happened to that purple hamer?

I'm sorry, but it's pretty obvious to me that the ONLY member of the hFC who could pull off this guitar is Reeshard. Send the guitar to Jeff. He's earned it.

Should be set up with "10's". When Ted let me look at it I breathed on the neck requiring a complete setup.

As far as I'm concerned, that damn thing cursed!

I'm thinking a Reeshard/Bruce cage match.

Pay Per View.

That just might work!

As long as the guitar isn't in the cage!

Wow Killer guitar. What's the story behind this one?

(Sorry too lazy to read all the posts in the thread)

Is that a Jeff Watson model?

No - it is a Studio Custom model with a number of custom tweaks, built for His Royal Purpleness.

So what you are saying is that Ted owns this guitar?

What part of my answer was unclear?

Just being a jackass Poe. This thread could become legendary, just wanted my little claim.

Rumor has it that it belongs to some guy named "Ted", but i'm not quite clear on that yet.

Then why hasn't he let me try it? That is my expectation.

Just curious . . . why did Prince not accept the guitar?

Also, I bet that thing would look sharp in my studio here at school, and the kids would love it  . . . wait a minute . . . they can't take care of the factory second Austin LP copy we have . . . :D

Can't we do to it like they did to the Berlin wall? Just saw it up in little purple pieces and send one out to each HFC member. With a certificate from Ted off course.

As I recall, Prince put it out there for a few guitar companies to build him something spectacular to play at the 2007 SuperBowl Halftime show.

There were a small handful of builders who participated, given rough specs (Floyd, particular neck carve, white EMGs, etc.), and he ultimately went with a Custom Shop Strat. The Hamer was returned to New Hartford and later given to Ted as a show of appreciation.

Then again, I may totally be making all this up.

Maybe Ted can give it away at the next Open House? Speaking of which, when IS the next Open House?

Since the guitar was made for Prince I was thiking of responding in a similar Prince like manner and say that it does not belong to me it belongs to the universe and that we only vessels or some stuff like that but here's my official word on the whole thing.

- The guitar was given to me by Hamer

- I have no plans to keep it.

- The plan has always been do something with it to create money that would benefit the HFC as a whole. Perhaps paying for some web programming or a graphic designer to fix up the site.

- For exactly the reason stated in the previous responses, auctions may flop and raffles were sketchy legally so nothing has happened yet.

- The guitar was sent to Chris so that he could photograph. While I agree it looks its best with Reeshard apparently the plan to recreate the cover of lovesexy with he and the guitar in place of prince and the cloud were foiled by either scheduling or contractural issues.

- Lastly the guitar will somehow benefit the hfc and belong to someone else hopefully sometime sooner rather than later.

I think I have finally figured all this out, without resorting to any crazy conspiracy theories:

As we all know, Ted has always just been a shadowy figure from somewhere way up in the Northern US. I've figured out exactly where.

Tommy convinced Ted that Hamers were better than the PRS Ted was playing when they were in that band with Jack and Michael.

Ted wanted a Hamer at that point, but his endorsement contract hadn't expired yet. By the time it did, Hamer wasn't doing Artist Endorsements so much, so it didn't officially happen.

Prince almost played the purple guitar on TV, but he ended up playing a different brand. It was a close call - down to the Hamer and one other brand.

Hamer gave the purple guitar to Ted, because he's been secretly playing Hamers ever since, and was able to use the anonymous nature of the web to support the brand by financing this website.

Hamer was always known for progressive solidbody designs. Then, the HFC began, and Hamer guitar designs started sprouting tone chambers....F-holes....then, a full hollowbody jazzbox appeared.

The next logical design step probably would have been something like a Newport, single cutaway two humbucker guitar with Ted's preferred 23.5" scale, but, something got in the way.

Remember that other brand that I made reference to above, back when Prince was trying to decide which brand choice would be of the most benefit to him for the TV show?

They were so impressed with that purple guitar...........they bought the company.

If you still haven't figured out who Ted is, let's just say he calls himself "Hikarateboy" because "DetroitDemolitionDude" would have been WAY too obvious.
