whatever happened to that purple hamer?

A raffle would be the best way to generate bucks. But that's pretty difficult to do in a fully legal way and even though everyone might be all like "the HFC if family, etc..." all it takes is one whiney beeyotch who didn't like the outcome to bury Ted in legal bills.

Exactly. If there's one thing we can take away from this thread and etch it in stone, let it be that a raffle will NEVER happen.

Yeah I get that... You know, it's not even my business really but like I wrote, this guitar has been talked about for years, many of us were under the mistaken impression it was going be given way, and the issue isn't really going to go away as evidenced by whomever started this thread. I'm happy to step out of the fray though.

If it makes you feel any better, you can box up one of those EBMM guitars and send it to me as a token of moderator gratitude. I will send it to the other mods to use, and then your guitar will be associated forever with the HFC and the Prince guitar. Your call. LOL!!!

I sent you a killer Baker that you sold. :D

Also, it seems to me if he wants to use it to raise the most possible money, an auction would be the absolute worse way to do it and loaning it out to different people would possibly be even worse. Why would an auction be the worse solution? It takes away the legal (whatever they are) issues of a raffle.

Several expensive items have been raffled off on TGP. If those bitches figured out a way to do it without having any legal issues, I don't see why it can't be replicated here.

Having said that, the guitar does belong to Ted and he can do with it as he pleases. My point is, if the intent is to raise money, a raffle or an auction would be the best format. Personally, I would want an HFCer to get a chance at winning the guitar rather than some unknown individual from e-bay.

Actually Jaye, until 2 months ago the guitar was in Ted's possession/control as far as I know and had been that way since it was shipped to him. Exceptions being when it was loaned to Bruce M for a 4321 Jam or something. Ted had to step away from day-to-day HFC activities over 2 years ago, and as a result it sat, since trying to do something with it has proven to be a huge pain in the ass. It was also originally targeted to be given away at a Cajun Jam a few years back, but that event was cancelled.

Frankly, I think the tension this thing somehow creates is ridiculous. For the last time, when we decide to do something with it, it will hopefully go to an HFC'er (mods will be excluded for fairness purposes).

Seriously: I have no personal beef in this issue one way or the other but it sure seems to create a lot of tension with some people and the fact that it's apparently just being shared between a select few only fuels the speculation. Looking in from the outside (which I'm mostly doing), it's kind of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" about this particular guitar.

I think if Ted just wants to send it around to a few select people, he should have at it -- but he should also say that's the intent. My understanding (obviously proven wrong in this thread) over the years of this one floating around is that it WAS going to be given away to an HFCer. At least the air's cleared on that issue.

Jaye...nobody but Chris has ever had that guitar. None of the other mods have had possession, my post was a joke.

Why would an auction be the worse solution? ...

It would only give the seller the market value of the guitar. An auction should, in theory, generate more than the market value of the guitar.

So what you are saying is that Ted owns this guitar?

The purple guitar was given to Ted by Hamer as a thank you for his hard work on setting up this place.

I'm confused. Does the mean that the purple Hamer is Ted's?

Obviously you are. The purple Hamer is the HFC's. Who's Ted?

Ted owns the guitar, Matthes owns the strings, you own the case, and I own the white pickups....which will be replace by Schlabotniks as soon as the guitar comes back my way.

And the caps will be replaced with M&Ms, fused onto the pots via caramel instead of solder.

Seriously, this is the first picture I've seen of this beauty, and the first thread I've read that really talks about this guitar.

I love the looks of it, but Ted can do whatever he likes with it. It was given to HIM. Not a difficult concept to grasp.

After reading all the posts in this thread, I can see why the subject doesn't come up too often, :D

What do you think the new Dremel is for? Schlabotnik pups are slightly larger than EMGs due to the Brazilian rosewood wire he uses.

Actually, I don't even own the strings - they're .009s I think, and I don't play anything less than .010s.

God, I didn't realize how much I missed the way these threads all go completely awry.

No offense, but I think that guitar makes whomever fondles it look kinda ghey. (edited to add: not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Can I have it back, please?
