MCChris Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Can't wait to feast my eyes on this thing (assuming it isn't in splinters):
SteveB Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 so if you whip out a guitar at work are you immediately surrounded by fawning lingerie clad playmates?
MCChris Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 so if you whip out a guitar at work are you immediately surrounded by fawning lingerie clad playmates?Nah, probably hairy-pitted, patchouli-smelling hippie chicks like usual.Although last week I interviewed a trial lawyer from Alabama who's appearing naked in the pay site this weekend and she said she's into jam bands, so who knows?
Brooks Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 nice!! that is sexy as hell.just cracked a box open myself (see diablo thread)...
BubbaVO Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 so if you whip out a guitar at work are you immediately surrounded by fawning lingerie clad playmates?Nah, probably hairy-pitted, patchouli-smelling hippie chicks like usual.Although last week I interviewed a trial lawyer from Alabama who's appearing naked in the pay site this weekend and she said she's into jam bands, so who knows?Southern girl? Into Rock n' Roll? Bad enough. She's a liti-gator on top of that? Trouble.
BubbaVO Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I like my Mirage II better than my natural Studio/Archtop Studio Custom guitars. Strumming it unplugged, the M2 just feels more vibrant.I wonder if you'll feel the same way.
specialk Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 That's a WOW!+1.Spectacular top on that one. Congrats!
cmatthes Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Almost never see those in bursts, and that's a gorgeous hunk of maple on there.Nice.
MCChris Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 Almost never see those in burstsAny idea how many Mirages have this finish? This is the first one I've ever seen, in person or otherwise. And it's much darker in person. The red on the edges is almost brown, resulting in a faux tobacco burst. Love it!
cmatthes Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I've never seen another one (that I can recall) in that vintagey-59 burst. I have seen two in a dark, 2 tone Tobacco/Sienna Burst and one in an Amber-ish burst. Pretty much all the others have been Koa, Vintage Natural, Kool Blue, Red Trans, with the oddball Salmon Blush and Black every now and then. Definitely not a lot out there in sunbursts.
elduave Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Every time I see a Mirage, I like it a bit more. Way cool top and finish!
hardheartedbill Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I used to search for them every day at one point, I've never seen that finish before, and like Chris said, the other bursts are pretty damn rare. If it's not one of a kind it's one of very few, I LOVE it, way to go big guy!
Feynman Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 That's an awesome looking Mirage to me - best I've seen. Major score.
atquinn Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 There's one on eBay with the same finish right now (interesting how that always seems to happen), but the top on MCC's is waaaaaaaaaay cooler (IMO).-Austin
MCChris Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 the top on MCC's is waaaaaaaaaay cooler (IMO).I echo that sentiment. Gotta get the camera out soon.
Bloozguy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 WOW!!! That is beautiful...great color...great grain. Nice score Chris! Seeing that made me break out my Kool Blue one and get a refresher course in how kick ass it plays and sounds.
gorch Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Great score MCChris! I ever thought the Mirage series lived far to short. On the other hand it makes them even more sought after.
