I don't know if you are referring to me in this or not.

it was a general statement... not aimed at anyone in particular....... just to the people that complain more than contribute....

I think people are reading way, way too much into the decision to cancel the tour this year. And what's with the whole "if the company doesn't make me feel special I'm not going to buy their product" theme? This amounts to us turning what was a generous gesture on their part into an obligation.

All I care about is that Hamer continues to make great guitars for a reasonable price and provide good customer service.

I don't know what that means but give me a hit of that.

haha! thanx buck, now this thread wasn't a complete waste of my time.

The "I've been here longer than you stuff is just ridiculous on this site" who cares.

That always cracks me up.

Seems to be minimal shit stirring on this forum. Lots of good folks here.

As an armchair economist I bet the Hamer factory is just very busy trying to gear up and fill a void left by Gibson's terrible quality.

... Jol was in charge of the "pictures for the website" and that he was running behind these days.

Tis true, not only that but Jol has to write the words to accompany the pictures so its not surprising that this is the case especially since his first responsibilty is making great guitars. With more hamers being built than at anytime since they moved to CT its no surprise he's busy.

I talked to some people in CT today and Jonathan's summation that "people are reading way, way too much into the decision to cancel the tour this year" was almost an echo or what I heard. If it were even remotely related to anything else at all I would have to be being lied to and I am about as confident as I can be that I am not.

The designer series is the focus and Jol's schedule will be posted when the details are finalized. Last I heard the next unveiling was in late October. Obviously shutting down the factory down for a couple days right before a deadline doesnt make sense. Not to mention the fact that that they would need to hide everyone as well as every piece of the next models in line so their dealers can control the publicity surrounding them.

Re: the Ovation tour. My understanding is that the tour was booked before and held at the begining of production. All guitars were hidden and to this day I have only heard rumors that people saw something but never heard what they saw. I for one am skeptical but wouldnt be surprised if there a few nosing around where they shouldnt. To me it seems as though its more conspiracy theory and conjecture since thats almost always more fun than the truth.

Lets not get hung up on this and move forward. I don't care if someone has been here 7 mins or 7 years, if they are interested in Hamers they are welcome here.

Ok, my gut is probably wrong.

Hamer seems ready to hit the mainstream and take over some market share formerly held by Gibson. With that in mind, it makes sense for all of us to let them put their focus on that and not worry about us while they take this leap forward.

They deserve this.

Anyone have numbers on this? Because it seems to me that Hamer and Gibson appeal to different market niches. Or that Hamer has a niche, while Gibson has a market.

I think that this is more of an issue of former Gibson Art & Historic/Custom Shop/Whatever we're callling it today dealers looking for instruments to fill spaces on their wall that the high-end Gibsons occupied. If they can push Hamers out to the LP/Gibson guys, that'd be good for Hamer. By and large the Hamer instruments are better!

You regulars here want a wake-up call?

Go to http://news.google.com and punch in "hamer message board", and check out the first link that is offered....

It may be "news" to some people, but...

Well, now that you mention it, I have noticed that most of the guys on this board are pretty hot...

I am pretty happy with the way Hamer handles things right now. I get good customers support.

If I do want to know anything on the guitars I own, I get quick replies. And they make guitars in a way I tought long gone for that price level.

And for the "custom" stuff, I am more than happy with the beauty's I see over here. The designer gallery is just a little extra that I like but don't need.

As for the Tour; I asked them to cancel it this year, because it didn't fitted in my calender. Now I am happy on this too.....

Next year.

It's THEIR company, not ours. The fact that we have had so much contact and generosity from them should not be minimized by this sort of stuff.

How many of us have picked our own wood for the guitars from OTHER companies, in person. Many of us have picked LOTS of wood. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Times are changing, and they could easily say "no" to any future events.

Jol is going out on tour in the fall, so that is a reality. He's also going out in the spring, and we look forward to him coming to see us.

I agree with Greg on this one.

I think that no matter what Jol and the Hamer management decides is best for the preservation of the brand, we should abide it.

After all, being that they have access to the spreadsheets that display their bottom line, they know a whole lot more about what affects their reputation in the marketplace.

Wouldn't you say so, Greg?

Hehehe....you said "picked our own wood"...hehehe :)

I got to pick my wood (hehe) from two planks via an email that Frank Rindone sent me. I can't think of another guitar maker that would let me do this without me being a member of Aerosmith or something.
