Selling #0441 and need advice

I believe he was estimating the total of all Hamer's that had been completed by the time this one was built, not only four digit Standards.

Yes, that is correct. I understood the 4 digit method was a separate system used for custom ordered guitars. I'm not sure if some think that these are the first ones made, and in many cases are not. I love four digits, but primarily the early ones, as with the regular numbering system. Earlier the better, IMO. Well, not necessarily better, but cooler IMO. You know what I mean. Hamer definitely made great guitars in the later years. Probably, due to experience. But I still love nitro, etc. Just feels different.

That is sweet..as odd as this sounds to say, there are probably a lot of guitars from that period that were modded. Brass nuts, floyds, kahlers and after market pick ups..none of us, myself included always had reverance for what we had back then. I butchered a few Les Pauls..with three pickups and one of those became Kahlerized... Wouldn't mind owning this..I couldn't touch this if it were mint and un altered....

The fact that the OP is 'long-gone' in posting, and the experts have all chimed-in regarding how valuable this guitar 'might' be, I'd say the opportunity to:

1. Communicate with the OP

2. Discuss the guitar

3. Score a good deal

is quite over. Another opportunity for the 'right' someone to obtain it, restore it, and cherish it is gone.....cat-out-of-the-bag syndrome?

I hope he got what it was worth. The douche that offered him $125 should be horse-whipped.

Noonan reporting in late sir. Still grieving the Pack n Seahawk losses.

What did this thing wind up selling for?

It really depends on what the douche planned to put into it. I paid $200 for a modded four digit which looks like a bargain.

But, if that $200 is added to the amount I'm putting into what I (and the seller) consider necessary repair/restoration work, it's a fair price.

If the douche tried to score it for $125 just to flip it...well...from what I've been told by many here, that's just fine too.

I still stand by my initial post that $2k - $2.5k is a range that is fair to both the buyer and seller of a guitar fitting the description we all have.

I have no idea whether the seller actually moved it or not, and also not sure where the $125 comment is coming from. He probably got flooded with PMs, emails and carrier pigeon messages throwing varied offers on the table. The seller knows what a reasonable price would be, and probably also knows that eBay is the best option. If the seller hasn't received a fair offer, I'm sure we'll see it on a wider market in the near future. If we don't see it, then somebody either paid too much or found a nice Angus Young SG to trade.

That's how these things usually play out, anyway.

I asked for pictures opening day so i could make an fair offer. I never recieved a reply nor did I get any pictures. I'm not heartbroken on bit.

George:

Your post has been blocked.

What you effectively just did was hold a faux auction, but right out in front. State a price or take it to eBay.

End of story.

Guess it'll be eBay.
