devrock Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Yes, I'm on a couple of the Jackson boards and the CS lead time is absurd now. Either hire more people or don't take the orders. It's not like they are a small boutique shop (coughFendercough)...
veatch Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I'm a simple man. This with wider pinstripes and sharkfins:
murkat Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I'm a simple man. This with wider pinstripes and sharkfins: omg Had no idea. you rule.
velorush Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 My needs are far more simple: how about a certain HFCer's beloved checkerboard Jackson only with a large maple neck/fretboard and Fender headstock? On second thought (looking at it again), how about an exact duplicate? Absolutely love this guitar! Second only to his four digit!
veatch Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I'm a simple man. This with wider pinstripes and sharkfins:omgHad no idea. you rule. Ain't mine, unfortunately. I had a chance to buy a dual pup version of this new back in 84, but I blew it... I've wanted one ever since, but they are somewhat impossible to find (or afford now...)
diablo175 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Rumor is custom orders are 24 months out. Round horn V with those specs, nice! Couple of things: CS wait time is 24 months. This much I know Also reasonably sure Jackson CS will NOT do round horns nor will they do Strat-style head stocks except for Sig models like PC1's and Adrian Smiths. I wanted a reversed Strat head on the neck-thru pictured above and was given a decisive NO.
zorrow Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Well, 24 months of anguish and anxiety are a total turn off, even if they would build Vees with round horns. There are many other cool builders out there anyway.
coolfeel Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Yah, not sure what the 24 month thing is all about. That would be a deal breaker for me. Good think I am not really a big fan of Jackson guitars...lol
diablo175 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Well, 24 months of anguish and anxiety are a total turn off, even if they would build Vees with round horns. There are many other cool builders out there anyway. As one who has had to wait and is currently doing so, I can tell you anxiety doesn't really enter into it. Unless you're banking on a specific delivery date. Point being: even with Jackson CS saying 24 + months to deliver, that's no guarantee it will be delivered by 2 years. If you pull the rigger on a CS order, you better fully accept the possibility of delays. Might be 2 days, might be 2 months. Frustration? Impatience? Yeah, definitely. There's a guy on the JCF Online griping about how his custom order hasn't been delivered at the 2 year mark and he's so mad he's gonna sell off his entire Jackson collection in spiteful protest. Is it a turn off? Yep. I've vacillated between pulling the plug on the FWAM Star order and moving forward at least a dozen times because of the wait time. The only reason I decided to gut it out is because I have my Hamer Custom Cali to tide me over and frankly, I like the design on the Star so much, it's worth waiting to have an ax done up in my very specific design specs.
carfish7 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Hamer build times aren't that long! No - at this point they are, well, eternity!
cmatthes Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Unless you got an order in before last December!
gorch Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Seriously, how to plan for a 2 years CO just for the label? There is a good chance to not live the arrival. The parts are general market. Shape and paint could be ordered anywhere else, possibly cheaper.
