Poifectly clear......

Yogi Berra Explains Jazz:
Interviewer: Can you explain jazz?
Yogi: I can't, but I will. 90% of all jazz is half improvisation. The other half is the part people play while others are playing something they never played with anyone who played that part. So if you play the wrong part, its right. If you play the right part, it might be right if you play it wrong enough. But if you play it too right, it's wrong.
Interviewer: I don't understand.
Yogi: Anyone who understands jazz knows that you can't understand it. It's too complicated. That's what's so simple about it.
Interviewer: Do you understand it?
Yogi: No. That's why I can explain it. If I understood it, I wouldn't know anything about it.
Interviewer: Are there any great jazz players alive today?
Yogi: No. All the great jazz players alive today are dead. Except for the ones that are still alive. But so many of them are dead, that the ones that are still alive are dying to be like the ones that are dead. Some would kill for it.
Interviewer: What is syncopation?
Yogi: That's when the note that you should hear now happens either before or after you hear it. In jazz, you don't hear notes when they happen because that would be some other type of music. Other types of music can be jazz, but only if they're the same as something different from those other kinds.
Interviewer: Now I really don't understand.
Yogi: I haven't taught you enough for you to not understand jazz that well.

I'm 51 now. I've been playing guitar since I was 10 or 11, and piano before that. I play violin now which I absolutely love despite its difficulty. I practice every day like I used to with the guitar. I'm 51 now. The skills don't really cross over well between guitar and violin even though they're both stringed instruments. I mostly just look at my Hamers now. Only a few of them are out, most of them are stored in their case - I don't even get to see them. Some I've bought in this forum.

I'm not really looking for advice, I just don't know what to do. I've deeply regretted almost every guitar that I sold and I love looking at them. Over the years, I think some of the pearl finishes have been yellowing. They're so beautiful.

Absolutely Classic Yogi

By the way, My interpretation of Jazz has always been this:

Jazz, A bunch of guys looking for a note.

"play it wrong twice, it's jazz"  A good local jazz singer recently explained during a show that "Jazz is a Verb"

I was actually gonna make a thread over this, glad this thread is here instead.

When we think of vintage Les Paul tones and those famous for them, who among us wouldn't put Lana Del Rey right at the top of their list? 🙃

Hey, man!  There are plenty of us who own Hamers because of Jennifer Love Hewitt.  😉

If Grace Potter gets a signature model, everyone should get a signature model.

That‘s a long TDC list to face for the forum. Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll make for a long life though.

Way back when, I posted a Fender Jaguar for sale on the college bulletin board.....I got an excited call from someone with a strong middle east accent asking if I would sell him the whole car.
