albacore Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Remember when I said this (during all the wrangling over color and finding specific examples of 'just right' etc.)? ^^^ Thanks for that. I know now I had lost sight of the original intent (your paragraph two). Fact is, as it stands I am currently signed up for Mike's interpretation of "Darkburst (tobacco)." I will be curious (when the time eventually comes) to see what he envisions as "Darkburst (tobacco)." If our interpretations agree, fine. If not, I'm sure another of the stock options will be great. This is actually quite freeing, if you think about it! Well THIS: ... is a MAGNIFICENT 'envisioning' of Darkburst (tobacco), I'm assuming! Wow! Just wow! It's not tired old two-tone brown as I've seen over and over again! This has depth and warmth and caramelly goodness! It will be very interesting now to see cherry sunburst for comparison - whenever the opportunity arises, that is. Once again, thanks so much Mike for sharing this with us! Yep I think that's close to what I was looking for. Then I saw the naturals. Choices, choices.

kizanski Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I have been fortunate enough to have custom ordered several new guitars; Hamers, Robins, GMPs, and even a couple of Bill Nash guitars, but I don't recall being as excited to receive any of them as this one.I also don't recall ever being so grateful to someone for taking my money.
velorush Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 The other thing I really like about this one is the wide, irregular flame. I've come to prefer that over the tight, almost perfect flame. That's just right!

That's just right! pssst....that's quilt I stand corrected. Sorry to use the wrong mapleclature - quilt, flame, wavy stuff, I like this one, and to the point, its randomness.
The Shark Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I also don't recall ever being so grateful to someone for taking my money.Yes. And I had to beg for a second run of Ultimates. The guitars in progress are just superb.

The guitars in progress are just superb.I think in part why we are all so happy about this, is that Mikes start up is confirmation that the idea that Paul Hamer and company started all those years ago is still relevant.Mike is going to do great because he is talented and has an idea about how to balance guitars and ledgers.... He doesn't need to prove anything, save building great guitars for our sakes!Very well put!
kizanski Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yes, very well put. I just hope everyone feels the same way when Mike starts asking a price more in line with what his works of art are really worth. We've been given a gift with these first 50-or-so guitars, and when the time comes, I for one am prepared to reciprocate.
cmatthes Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Exactly what Kiz said. This "one-time only" pricing is great, but they will be worth it at beyond Mike's regular pricing.
Sugartune Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yeah, and please remember the great one-time pricing should you find the need to move one of these along.
HSB0531 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Whatever I decide on, I want a Shishkovusa stadium logo.
kizanski Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Yeah, and please remember the great one-time pricing should you find the need to move one of these along. lol - dream on.

I want a semi-hollow, a single-cut and a double-cut. Specifics to be determined later...

HSB0531 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I hate you all. Don't worry, Mike's making more after this batch
