How Many Tally Pros Were Made?

I had been chatting with a guy about his Tally Pro and he mentioned that he had heard that only 25 Tally Pros had been made. I thought that seemed too low. It would suggest that I could mentally place about a third of them, which would be weird for me since I'm both anti-social and forgetful. Also, considering that some Hamer limited runs exceeded 25 units, it would seem odd that their intended flagship offering was made in such small numbers.

Does anyone have a ballpark sense of how many Tally Pros were made?

I have heard the same number, then others say many more. But the latter contentions tend to get confused because they (seem) to fail to completely differentiate between the Tally and Tally Pro.....And that the former had a ltd edition subset of 25 (I think) in Earthen Maple.

I have lost track of what resides where. I once had a pair (as in this picture). I do believe there is one person currently sitting on three of them. (I will not be the person to spill the beans).

Because a couple very high end Tallys popped up (and appear to be in a "collection", likely overseas) I am guessing there were at least some that were custom orders that never got their own NGD outing.

When the warehouse blowout at Hamer occurred, huge numbers went off to Willcutts. There were pages of certain models, several Tallys and only a handful of Tally Pros (that I was aware of). Based upon that, and that the Pro model was introduced so close to the end of "normal" production (and at a too high price point) I am going to guess the number is closer to that 25 than "many more".

It would be good if anyone can find production numbers so there is a more definitive answer. (I have said before that, IMHO, that guitar is the "best" Hamer ever made. No longer my personal favorite, but.......)

In my short time as an hfcer the only models more elusive than the Tally Pro from my perspective have been the Virtuoso!, the Watson and the Impact.

Seen a few Virtuoso for sale, one Watson and no Impacts.

I did not include the Improv in my list as I believe there are 2 or 3 still available NOS. I have also seen at least 3 used Improv for sale.

An A5 Phantom with a sustain block non-trem bridge has also been a rare sighting.

And bound Vectors. And Newport 90s. And quad basses. And 4 digit basses.

FWIW, when I was trawling TGP looking for a Tally Pro, this past fall, some dude PM'ed me that he had a hard time selling his in 2009 (I think), and ended up parting with it for $900.

I had been told there were under 25 Talladega Pro's crafted - as rare or rarer than the Improvs.

Around 40 Talladega's (probably slightly under) - then I had not considered including the EM Talladega Limited Run Series into the Talladega totals. An obvious HUA moment.

I'm pretty confident the Talladega Pro number of being under 25 is accurate. The person I spoke with was sure there were not more than 100 total of both Talladega models combined.

I own a Talladega Pro and two Talladega's so I'm at least 3% of the total. ;)

Somebody here once said there were about 50 or so 4-D Standard Basses made.

Even if I look like a complete idiot: I never heard of a model called Impact. Pics anybody?

Thanks!

My understanding is that was the only Impact guitar ever made. I tried to get one custom ordered, but sadly the answer was no. :/

Now, had you been Lita Ford and hitched up your skirt.......

my custom built talladega is sort of a cross between a tally pro and regular tally - it has the big mahogany tally pro neck on it. it's pretty sweet.

so does that mean i have one of each? :D

Impacts were basses.....only 6-string one was for Lita.

Still rather rare even as basses but not the rarest of Hamer Basses.....fewer Quadbasses and Violin Basses and Three-Coils and TLE Basses.

I just saw somebody selling a Hamer Violin Bass case last week - brown lining and everything!

No bass, of course.

Pretty odd...

That is that over-priced EBAY crook who is listed in both UK Germany, who tends to part a lot of stuff out, right ?

I would by a second Talladega Pro if I could afford it - they are that awesome. Its why I already own two Talladega's. The Pro shown above is beautiful - a perfect example.

They really do exceed your already high expectations. Its a shame Hamer did not make more of them.
