Guitarsforever Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I just bought my first Hamer , a 97 studio. After reading a little online , I see Hamer moved to Hartford Ct in apr of 97. is there any way tell where it was made ?
RobB Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 is there any way tell where it was made ?Maybe a Ouija board? Or, you could post the serial number.
Guitarsforever Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks. I was about to pull out the Ouija board, it's in the mail and I didn't save the photo of the nr .
Guitarsforever Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 I'll post photos and number when I have it in my hands. The seller removed the add right after the deal was done. I thought I had the photos here somewhere ,but can't find them now. (been keeping an eye on it for along time). Are these studio's solid body or chamberd like an Artist ?
Caddie Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Mr. Serial is the master of serial numbers. Go get a couple of Mountain Dews and hang tight. While your waiting spank on that bitch. If its AH or Hartford are you going to send it back and ask for your money back?Does it have Hameritis? If so its probably AH.Cheers!caddie
Sugartune Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I have Hameritis on my '05 Studio. Not nearly as bad as others I've seen. Also have it on my '01 Artist.Mountain Dew!?!?! That shit'll make your pee glow.

To late now! Maybe made both places. Just thought the move was at later date ,and that there might be some visable differences in a AH and a Hartford made guitar. The seller claims no Hameritis , and It looks good on the photos, but some people can get them self to say a lot things. Should be here before the weekend . I'll have a classic Hamer -Gibson DC shoot out, with Mountain Brew
BTMN Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Lot of the same guys that built the AH guitars then moved to New Hartford to build guitars. Hope it's a good one.
serial Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I wouldn't complain about quality at either place. AH shut down in March or so of 97 and NH started up about a month later (the move was in progress for a few months). Great guys building atvboth places-the NH guys were from the AH shop.
cmatthes Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 They apparently stopped taking on new orders in late '96 at some point, IIRC. I called directly looking to order an Emerald Green B-12s in the Fall of '96 because I didn't know any Hamer dealers near me. I was told that they were starting the process of relocating the shop and that they only had two in Cherry Trans (one with an ebony board) in the works, and if I wanted anything beyond that to call back closer to the next May or June.
serial Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 The last AH guitar was 747993, so if it was a lower number, it was either all AH or at least partially-built in AH.
Guitarsforever Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 Thanks. It's not going to make it here before the weekend. It is trans red. Dosent have a ebony fretboard - I think. Now I have to get that nr
Andrew Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 It could be from unfinished parts/guitars shipped from AH to NH for final assemblyand finishing, so from both.
