Geez.....what a flashback. The same year as this I flew to Cleveland with two members of my college's Black Liberation Front to speak on a panel at the National College Convention.  Before flying home that Sunday, the two people I had gone with dragged me to a huge auditorium church to hear Rev Jesse Jackson. I thnk I was the only white guy there. It was a trip to hear Jackson in his prime before he became what he is now. The worst part of the whole trip was having to drink that godawful 3:2 watered down beer in a niteclub because I was under age. Do they still make that stuff?

Still sold in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Utah. In Ohio we had two minimum drinking ages--18 for 3.2 beer, and 21 for everything else. Sometime in the '70s Ohio did away with the distinction and made the drinking age 21 for everybody.

More precisely in time, Ohio was a 19 yo drinking age in fall of '86 (and I think through at least 88) when I went to Dayton for school.  It was awesome to buy beer, but really strange when I went back to my home state where I couldn't.  I think 3.2 beer was still around, but I also think we could buy anything in the store.  Not that it mattered.  Back then I could afford Goebel.
