Eli Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 No affiliation, but was this an actual custom order option or an aftermarket thing? https://www.ebay.com/itm/145566169667?hash=item21e46b7a43:g:1nEAAOSwqpRlrG7z&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwGfR%2BlPr0%2FrNnTUsr4A7ovMYbHVebcNz9QSyhxmvSoofmzDxag9Ho0wCT0oNFtg3cX1%2F%2BdnqHSSvJtHtEhmKVfX7sRzjoZYlE8kst%2BIoirN9%2F9sMc96MUcN4lIf8QGI017iAkra0sfs6FSvCNjUJMoecwUuzZowig1dXykcN32unmuZBxCeJLArejVREm7tJeSiSxcGBJhikeNd5QWyUAtjxFckl3Fl0ilYHXzKQfK%2BYl8x6MGOeuGRaNSfFehwRXw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7aEy7WmYw
stedge Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 A true fretless wonder. No one would know the difference if I were playing…. What key are we (supposed to be) in?

Steve Haynie Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 The tuners have been changed. Can you really tell when a fretless guitar is out of tune?
kizanski Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Again... Interesting serial number... From the Reverb ad: "This has to be one of the only, if the only Specials we've seen with the fretless option." ...and then... "Photo of Andy Summer in the case with a similar fretless Hamer." Huh??
bry4321 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 If you play slide is there a point in having frets? Other than maybe as a reference?
kizanski Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 @serial @cmatthes What does the great serial number database say about 11 0015?
gorch Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Having written that in the parallel threat. It is looking like a refin to me.
Jimbilly Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 I'd scallop it. what's 'cost to cure' to put frets in it? Or is it just a display piece? I imagine quite a few guys could do a good solo on it, I saw an amazing upright bassist about a week ago, Clipper Anderson, he could probably do something cool with that, most of us probably best to just display it.
Ham Rex Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Way back in the early 80's I played an SD Curlee Fretless in a store... well tried to play it. I was still taking lessons back then so today I still wouldn't be able to play it!
