Rusty Fingers Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Hello all:I just wanted to say hello. I finally joined the list after checking in occassionally. I've been a Hamer owner for almost 3 years now...an Artist Custom. I can't imagine playing a different brand now. That Artist is the best guitar I've owned and would love to own another one. I've been reading. to my horror, the "obit" and "jol" threads. Hopefully Hamer will be able to maintain quality, or perhaps, there is a Dantzig in my future. Looking forward to talking to you all on the forum.Rusty
GaryT Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Yup those Artist Customs are a very cool Axe.Many years back....around 98 I went looking for a Les-Paul. I played every single Les-Paul I came across. Then I played a 96 Artist Custom. And the rest is History. Anyway glad to see you found the Hamer Forum. Welcome. You still using the Seth Lovers in the AC? Any Photos?
Rusty Fingers Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks,Yes, I still have the Seth Lovers in the guitar, its my first experience with them. My nickname for that guitar is Seth! I love the Seth Lover bridge. In the neck, I'm 95% happy, I might like something slightly more single-coily....like an Unbucker or something, but I have no plans to mod that guitar. The clean tones are absolutely gorgeous and the guitar is adaptable to many situations. No luck posting a picture....is there anything special that I have to do....get admin permission or something?Anyway, I'm happy to be a member of any club that is willing to have me. :-)Rusty

veatch Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Congrats on the Artist. Great guitars, especially in Korina... Welcome!
Rusty Fingers Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Congrats on the Artist. Great guitars, especially in Korina... Welcome! Yes, I love the pictures of your stacked purfling guitar. So now, I have really bad GAS for a Korina Artist in Jazz Burst. Mine is a tobacco sunburst maple/mahogany. I'll post a picture once I set up one of those photo hosting sites....and see if I can give somebody else some GAS!
Thundernotes Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Welcome!I had unbuckers in an Artist that I previously owned. You would not be sorry!
RobB Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Now THAT is one fine-looking Artist Custom! I didn't care for victory inlays at first, but they make more sense to me the more I see them. They seem to work well on the double-cutaway models, especially.Welcome to the HFC.
Rusty Fingers Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Now THAT is one fine-looking Artist Custom! I didn't care for victory inlays at first, but they make more sense to me the more I see them. They seem to work well on the double-cutaway models, especially.Welcome to the HFC.Thanks (actually thank the guys in CT). Its a great guitar, amazingly flexible. I love the victory inlays when applied with the neck and headstock binding....elegant and immediately identifiable as a Hamer....a signature look. Reminds me of the way Gibsons look with split parallelogram inlays. Plain crowns, to me, are too Gibson like.Any eye-pleasing inlays that add to the Hamer brand identification are good....case in point...the boomers...I don't know that I would want them, but they work for me and I think they should be available.
